THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Exec,

If you drink alcoholic drinks, stop completely for 14 days and weigh yourself every morning at approximately the same time.

Write the weight down with the weight you wish to achieve.

Stay on your food intake as it is, other than reducing carbohydrates by half.

Increase, your coffee intake, as long as it is black and you don't already have a high intake.
=======

Try it.

At least it won't harm you physically, but there are many wives who prefer their husbands drunk!

University Hospital of Wales staff switched for A&E duty

The chief executive of Wales' biggest hospital, which a nurse said is more stressful to work in than a warzone, has said staff have been redeployed to cope with winter pressures.

Adam Cairns, head of Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales, said it had been "relentless" in accident and emergency.

It comes after the senior nurse said the stress A&E staff faced is worse than she faced on the frontline during the second Iraq war.

She said she had to make decisions "that put patients at risk and put the staff under extreme pressure".

Thanks for the tips, Fred. How much do you weigh, might I ask? Never having met you, I have you in my mind's eye as being about 6' 2" tall and about 14st.

Goldfinger has told us he is quite a big guy at around 6'5", if I remember.

Cynic: What about you? You come over as being quite tall and slim. correct?

Of course, we all know Hilary is gorgeous and has truly fantastic legs too (when they are working).

Shortie. Hmmm? I reckon 5'8" and about 13st or so.

Skinny. Are you really skinny?

Haystack: 6'3", 15st and loads and loads of blonde hair.

Germany balances budget for first time since 1969 (by bankrupting half of €urope)

Leader of Angela Merkel’s CDU party says that Germany is leading by example in the eurozone

Germany has balanced the federal budget for the first time in more than 40 years, helped by strong tax revenues and rock-bottom interest rates, but the extra leeway is unlikely to translate into spending that could boost weak eurozone growth.

Berlin had been aiming to achieve a schwarze Null – a balanced budget or one in the black – this year but the finance ministry announced on Tuesday it had got there in 2014, a year ahead of schedule.

It is the first time since 1969 that Germany has achieved the feat and is a domestic and European political fillip for Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government, which wrote the goal into a coalition agreement in late 2013 and has preached budget discipline to Greece and other indebted eurozone countries.

Peter Tauber, general secretary of Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party (CDU), said the budget was a historic success and sent a clear signal to the rest of Europe that Berlin was leading by example and only spending money in its coffers.

“This marks a turning point in financial policy: We’ve finally put an end to living beyond our means on credit,” he said.
