Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

there's a great many twists and turns still to come and it just may be that one party or another will manipulate a position whereby an early GE is indeed called
anyway, this so-genannte Great Repeal Act sounds an excellent way of taking power back from Brussels without throwing sensible legislation out with the bath water
lots and lots for fred to stay grumpy about :-)

When the pound sterling reaches parity with the Euro, will it be a good thing, or are we heading to be just another banana republic?

i see no reason at all for € persistent strength, but except when it went to 1.40 about 18 months ago, (imo) it has been ridiculously o'valued and still is

If/when the quid reaches parity with the €urobun, the €uropean exporters can say goodbye to the british market...should do wonders for their economies.

It is an interesting read Fred.
Shame it's so one sided, and assumes that various countries inside the €U are willing to commit economic suicide by excluding blighty flat out.
The trade split as I have read is about 60/40 in the €urozones favour.
For example:
Blighty is the german car manufacturers biggest export destination.
We buy more French wine than any other country.
That's just two examples..but it boils down to cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Do you really think they will do that...really?

French wine will be too expensive for you.
Try Central Valley Chilean.

I doubt that once the real chaos of Brexit starts that the UK will be the flavour of the month, except for turning London into a weekend trip venue for the French and Germans.

there's loads of rubbish being spouted everywhere including here
95% of what you read on brexit will be for domestic consumption
the actuality will not be apparent for a great many more months - eg about 2 years

i use a vacuvin which keeps the wine fine ......
personally, i find that the quality of chilean wines has fallen away in recent years as more and more vines are planted and higher yields encouraged
some of the argentinian whites are very good and also (so i am told) their reds
recently came across a uruguayan red which was suprisingly good

T.May is making ALL the right noises, The Eu will have to realize that there
cannot be free movement, and it should be made a red line, and made now
so it has plenty of time for it to sink in to the gangsters in Brussels and the
remainer dreamers in the UK...

the idea of "licenced immigration" so that specific skill shortages can be met is eminently sensible

Theresa May vows to protect troops from 'legal witch hunt' by opting out of European human rights rules
By Peter Dominiczak, Political Editor and
Robert Mendick, Chief Reporter
4 October 2016 • 8:47am
British soldiers will never again face a legal witch hunt, Theresa May will pledge as she says that European human rights laws will no longer apply on the battlefield.
In a joint announcement with Sir Michael Fallon, the Defence Secretary, the Prime Minister will say that UK troops will be protected from the “industry of vexatious claims that has pursued those who served in previous conflicts”.
Mrs May and Sir Michael will say that in future conflicts Britain will opt out of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), protecting our frontline forces from “spurious” legal claims.
Their intervention is a major victory for soldiers, MPs and senior military figures who have fought against the hounding of troops who served in Iraq and Afghanistan over allegations that date back as long ago as 2003.
The Telegraph has repeatedly highlighted the plight of British troops facing criminal and civil allegations of abuse in the aftermath of Iraq and Afghanistan.
