THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

The introduction of cameras on one stretch of the M25 in Kent alone has led to almost 700 drivers receiving fines in little over two months.

tell me about it
i got stiffed for doing 70 when i was apparently in a 50 mph zone of which i was unaware

for general info, this was m25 anticlockwise near jnct 5

Pay up and smile c, it's for your own good.

VICTIM - 15 Jan 2015 09:23 - 55051 of 81564

You weren't on your pushbike by any chance were you Cynic , just that with all the em , fitness stuff .

cynic - 15 Jan 2015 09:31 - 55052 of 81564

well it was downhill!

Fred1new - 15 Jan 2015 09:51 - 55053 of 81564

Max,

I misread the cartoon I thought the pile of F.... on the empty podium represented Cameron.

Thought it more apt.

Fred1new - 15 Jan 2015 10:01 - 55054 of 81564

DB4 and Manuel,

If you have a deadly weapon (car or gun) you should no the rules, regulation and law and abide with them or pay the penalties.

No sympathy.

I have been "clocked" twice in the last 10 years. Damn it!

Probably, tried to excuse myself, until I told myself to "grow up" and take the "medicine"!

Otherwise, clean licence for 50 years, but looking back perhaps that was due to a lot of luck.

======

cynic - 15 Jan 2015 10:05 - 55055 of 81564

did i ask for sympathy?
just cross with myself for being clocked for being what i thought was within the applicable speed limit

Fred1new - 15 Jan 2015 10:09 - 55056 of 81564

Learn the "laws" and "regulations" and stop driving on "suppositions".

Applies to other areas too!

cynic - 15 Jan 2015 10:22 - 55057 of 81564

don't be a prick :-)
as it happens, there were no obvious roadworks so no reason to suppose other than usual 70 mph limit

Back to what I was saying yesterday about "moving about a bit more": http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-30812439

Fred1new - 15 Jan 2015 10:32 - 55059 of 81564

Manuel,

It appears you were wrong and once again shows your usual level of ignorance. Again I think "prick" is a more reflective and descriptive of yourself.

cynic - 15 Jan 2015 10:36 - 55061 of 81564

clearly you're feeling very dyspepsic this morning ...... have you been doing your bollocks on the market again?

To me, he is becoming as self delusional as a poster on this board.

George Osborne plans new budget surplus rules

He is denying his own record!!!!!!!

Meanwhile safe in Wavy Dave's hands.

A&E waits in England 'getting worse'

This week's figures for England:

95%
target for patients seen in 4 hours at A&E

79.8%
patients seen in 4 hours at major A&E hospitals

86.7%
patients seen in 4 hours at all A&E units

And this is without a epidemic or real winter flush.

doodlebug4 - 15 Jan 2015 10:58 - 55065 of 81564

Fred, you could hardly compare cars and guns as equally deadly weapons. It's oh so easy to break the law in this country if you own a motor car. I got caught two years ago doing 34mph in a 30 zone. It's equally as dangerous in my view to have old, dithery folks driving cars - especially on motorways.

Haystack - 15 Jan 2015 11:01 - 55066 of 81564

More dangerous! Different cars have different risks. The stopping distance figures vary hugely by model. Some cars can stop in just over their length at 30mph. Maybe higher speed limits for Ferraris?

cynic - 15 Jan 2015 11:05 - 55067 of 81564

you mean like fred perhaps ..... never had an accident or been done for speeding but caused plenty through dopey and/or inconsiderate driving - eg sitting in the motorway outside lane "because i'm doing 70"

Stan - 15 Jan 2015 11:06 - 55068 of 81564

"More dangerous! Different cars have different risks."

And what about the drivers? the type of car is not the most important factor, as the driver usually "adjusts" his thinking to the car's technological state.
