Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

DB4 and Manuel,
If you have a deadly weapon (car or gun) you should no the rules, regulation and law and abide with them or pay the penalties.
No sympathy.
I have been "clocked" twice in the last 10 years. Damn it!
Probably, tried to excuse myself, until I told myself to "grow up" and take the "medicine"!
Otherwise, clean licence for 50 years, but looking back perhaps that was due to a lot of luck.

did i ask for sympathy?
just cross with myself for being clocked for being what i thought was within the applicable speed limit

Learn the "laws" and "regulations" and stop driving on "suppositions".
Applies to other areas too!

don't be a prick :-)
as it happens, there were no obvious roadworks so no reason to suppose other than usual 70 mph limit

Manuel,
It appears you were wrong and once again shows your usual level of ignorance. Again I think "prick" is a more reflective and descriptive of yourself.

Meanwhile safe in Wavy Dave's hands.
A&E waits in England 'getting worse'
This week's figures for England:
95%
target for patients seen in 4 hours at A&E
79.8%
patients seen in 4 hours at major A&E hospitals
86.7%
patients seen in 4 hours at all A&E units
And this is without a epidemic or real winter flush.

Fred, you could hardly compare cars and guns as equally deadly weapons. It's oh so easy to break the law in this country if you own a motor car. I got caught two years ago doing 34mph in a 30 zone. It's equally as dangerous in my view to have old, dithery folks driving cars - especially on motorways.

More dangerous! Different cars have different risks. The stopping distance figures vary hugely by model. Some cars can stop in just over their length at 30mph. Maybe higher speed limits for Ferraris?

you mean like fred perhaps ..... never had an accident or been done for speeding but caused plenty through dopey and/or inconsiderate driving - eg sitting in the motorway outside lane "because i'm doing 70"

"More dangerous! Different cars have different risks."
And what about the drivers? the type of car is not the most important factor, as the driver usually "adjusts" his thinking to the car's technological state.

Drivers tend to underestimate stopping distance. It is quite rare for most drivers ever to have to do an emergency stop in potential accident conditions. I would rather be in a Ferrari that had to stop suddenly at any speed.

DB4.
Suggest you look at :
http://cdn.johnhenry.net/rac/rac_foundation2/content/downloadables/roads%20and%20reality%20-%20bayliss%20-%20accident%20trends%20by%20road%20type%20-%20160309%20-%20background%20paper%209.pdf
Have a look at the charts!
(They are not pure.)
In general motorways are safer than other roads.
Accidents, I haven't checked but from memory accident levels in "juniors" far higher than "seniors". Hence difference in insurance costs.
I must admit I do slip over the speed limit and have to "slow", but since driving a "heavy" vehicle as well as a "normal" car, for last 20 years, have become aware of "breaking" distances and real "manoeuvrability" and reduced my speeds according to conditions by approximately 20%.
(Strangely, on the continent I find my speed is usually just within defined and shown speed limits. )

DB4,
PS.
Cars are used as weapons, as can be seem from the behaviours and "murders" using them over the last few years.
The driving of some can be seen as using a "dangerous" weapon with disregard for others.
Pedestrians, mown down on pavements etc, and Airport in Scotland etc..
==========
Manuel,
Are you suggesting you knowingly wish to overtake somebody in the outside lane at more than 70 MPH.
It is indicative of THE LAW APPLIES to OTHERS, NOT ME. Strikes me as psychopathic.
I think you need a personality scan to see if you are still allowed out!

72% Say Let Greens in Leaders Debate
How much is Dave’s “chicken” debate demand to let the Greens take part hurting him with voters? A YouGov/Sun poll today finds 7 in 10 agree with the PM that Natalie Bennett should be allowed in. Meanwhile, overnight:
Guido understands as of yesterday UKIP’s memberships stands at 41,943, but the Greens have now overtaken that. Over to the broadcasters…

DO THEY HAVE MORE REAL MEMBERS than THE TORRID PARTY YET?
Perhaps. they can't afford the "DONATION" LEVEL for backhanders that applies!
