THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

does your local still mild?
i don't come across it often and indeed, can't quite place where i last saw it

on the other hand - and more for Balerboy than you - there is an extraordinary little pub called Tucker's Grave at Faulkland (Soms) that is well worth a visit
apart from the beer, they also serve REAL Thatcher's cider that comes from just down the road

doodlebug4 - 16 Jan 2015 17:26 - 55122 of 81564

Thatcher's cider - you are having a laugh, the left wing rabble wouldn't go anywhere near that out of principle.

goldfinger - 16 Jan 2015 17:27 - 55123 of 81564

Cider aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cant stand the stuff Im alergic to it. I actualy found to my cost and had to be re hydrated at A+E after just 2 and a bit pints.

Sick as a dog. Years ago.

Strange because Im not alergic to apples, but plenty of other foods.

doodlebug4 - 16 Jan 2015 17:29 - 55124 of 81564

West Hollywood's move to ban gender specific toilets welcomed by transgender community

The area was described as a 'jewel within the LGBT community' as the city council passed the measure

It’s goodbye to the stick-man – and to the stick-woman. A Los Angeles suburb has introduced a measure demanding that single-stall loos in businesses, restaurants and public places be designated gender-neutral.

The law, which takes effect in West Hollywood on Thursday, requires that loos must not be limited by signage, design or toilet fixtures to be used by people of a specific sex or gender. The new rules apply only to single-stall “restrooms”, not to those with multiple stalls and fixtures.

West Hollywood, known locally as “WeHo”, has a large gay and transgender population, and its council members voted in favour of the measure in June 2014. “Gender-specific restrooms can be unwelcoming and potentially unsafe for many people whose gender identity falls outside of traditional gender norms,” city leaders said in a statement, adding that the law would also benefit “people with disabilities or with personal attendants, people with children of a different gender, and... the many people who have waited in line for a gender-specific restroom when a restroom for a gender for which they don’t identify remained empty.”

New businesses must adhere to the new regulations immediately, while existing businesses, restaurants and public toilet facilities have 60 days to replace the traditional stick-figures with gender-neutral signage, and to ensure their restrooms are accessible to everyone.

Plans drawn up for Britain's first lesbian and gay school

Plan aims to protect young people from homophobic bullying

Ian Johnston

Friday 16 January 2015

The UK’s first specialist state school for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pupils could be created with three years, according to a report.

A £63,000 feasibility study has been commissioned into the idea of building the school in Manchester. It would teach 40 full-time students and also offer 20 part-time places.

Amelia Lee, strategic director for the charity LGBT Youth North West which has drawn up the plans, told The Guardian: “This is about saving lives.

“Despite the laws that claim to protect gay people from homophobic bullying, the truth is that, in schools especially, bullying is still incredibly common and causes young people to feel isolated and alienated, which often leads to truanting and, in the worst-case scenarios, to suicide.”
