though it may be a good idea, as would be making winter fuel allowance taxable, and a few other fringe benefits, such measures would lose more votes than it would gain

The DUP may go to court to join in as they are equivalent of SNP and have more MPs than Greens. The SDLP and Sinn Fein may want in as well.

George Galloway was on the Daily Politics show saying that he should also be invited! Cameron has certainly stirred up a hornet's nest and the majority of the sensible press in this country would appear to agree with his views.
