How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I did Steve. Green now but looking for other opportunities. Fantastic match to trade.

Real gutsy win from Roddick though Ferrer had every chance to win it

Harlosh - 04 Nov 2005 19:40 - 5581 of 10502

I didn't have a live feed or TV. Was just trading what I saw with the odds.

Suprisingly good result from it too.

Any Rugby Union fans care to comment on the France v Australia match tonight?

Australia currently 2.9 away to France at 1.57. Seems mighty high odds for the Aussies.

Surely worth atleast a lay on the French?

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 18:29 - 5589 of 10502

Hi John

havent looked at this game as yet (made good money on the handicaps in the wales v nz game) and currently watching the gb v aus rugby league.

Would expect France to be favs on recent form at home though would always be wary of backing them heavily. Will have a look in abit and let you know my thoughts - one concern i have with the aussies is they may be a bit rusty as i dont think theyve played much rugby recently but will check

Harlosh - 05 Nov 2005 18:30 - 5590 of 10502

Grateful Steve.

France: Julien Laharrague; Aurelien Rougerie, Florian Fritz, Yannick Jauzion, Cedric Heymans; Frederic Michalak, Jean-Baptiste Elissalde; Remy Martin, Thomas Lievremont, Yannick Nyanga; Jerome Thion, Fabien Pelous (cap); Pieter De Villiers, Dimitri Szarzewski, Olivier Milloud
Replacements: Sebastien Bruno, Sylvain Marconnet, Lionel Nallet, Gregory Lamboley, Sebastien Chabal, Yann Delaigue, Thomas Castaignede

Australia: Chris Latham, Wendell Sailor, Lote Tuqiri, Morgan Turinui, Mat Rogers, Matt Giteau, George Gregan (cap), Phil Waugh, George Smith, Rocky Elsom, Nathan Sharpe, Mark Chisholm, Al Baxter, Brendan Cannon, Matt Dunning
Replacements: Stephen Moore, Greg Holmes, Hugh McMeniman, John Roe, Chris Whitaker, Lloyd Johansson, Drew Mitchell

Aussies are missing first choice fly half Stephen Larkam and his replacement Matt Giteau has just returned from injury and not played any rugby

Aussies have lost their last 5 matches (against New Zealand and South Africa), and finished bottom of the tri-nations

Aussies have won 8 out of last 10 games against France, France having won the last 2 games in France.

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 18:47 - 5593 of 10502

If youre gonna lay the french, would be tempted to lay them in +3.5 market where they are still odds on, this puts a close Aussie win on your side.

Personally, cant see the Aussies winning this as the French are comfortably the best side in the Northern Hemisphere whilst the Aussies are the worst in the Southern Hemisphere. My only slight concern would be the weather - bad weather is likely to suit the aussies more and would certainly limit the french expansive back play making a tight low scoring game more likely.

Harlosh - 05 Nov 2005 18:59 - 5594 of 10502

Thanks Steve. I'll give it some thought.

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 19:58 - 5595 of 10502

The game is being played in MAreilles not Stade de France - the rteal home of french rugby and the crowd will be very passionate

Weather looks dry, can only see a France win, tempted to back them +7
