A new non-java Stockwatch is ready to try out - Technical Beta Test

IanT(MoneyAM) - 29 Jan 2014 07:42

As I'm sure you are aware, we and many of you have had a long and tiresome battle with Java when trying to use our streaming services. We have therefore been working on a solution to remove this problem.

We are pleased to announce that we have a new stockwatch available for use which no longer uses Java. We are currently making this available as a technical beta version, which means we are interested in your feedback regarding performance, bugs and browser/operating system/device compatibility issues (note: design and styling will be addressed in later beta releases).

For the purpose of allowing the old and new stockwatch versions to run concurrently, the technical functionality of the new stockwatch mimics the old one for now (not style, fonts or look). Editing and managing watchlists uses the same process as the current java stockwatch but is now at the top of the page. This will allow you to switch between the versions should you have any problems. All technical features of the current stockwatch are available in the new version except for the ability to drag resize columns. In the near future and as we migrate away from the java version of stockwatch, we will add new usability features as well as design it up to make the whole stockwatch experience smoother than it has ever been.

As this new version does not require java, you should expect it to work on your android devices and ipad/iphones. For now the display has not been optimised for smaller screens, but this will come in future development.

NOTE: Due to javascript performance in Internet Explorer 8, this new stockwatch can cause high CPU load. We recommend you use a current version of a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for best results.

The new version can be found on the following link:

http://www.moneyam.com/stockwatch/beta.php

NOTE: Non java versions of streaming trades, streaming news and level 2 will be released over the coming weeks.

Please do not worry about design/style at the moment as this version has not been styled it is purely a technical beta test environment it will be styled before it is released. We have put this here purely for feedback on its technical functionality i.e does it work in your browser and on your PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile

Please post your technical feedback in this discussion thread

Thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoy it

Unfortunately it does not work with my new Dell computer running windows 8.1 using browsers Firefox and also ie. Just get the headings only, no data. Does anyone have any ideas of how to correct this?

Theres a new Java out today- beware

ExecLine - 16 Jul 2014 12:52 - 561 of 734

After downloading the new Java update, don't forget to untick the 'Install ASK toolbar' button, so as to prevent it also being installed with the Java.

Sequestor - 16 Jul 2014 13:14 - 562 of 734

So you have no probs then Exec?

ExecLine - 16 Jul 2014 14:04 - 563 of 734

Nope. Have you?

Daughter's dog has poked itself in the eye (or maybe even got a bit of conjunctivitis?) and that's about it, really. Anyhow, the dog is already on antibiotic eye drops and is being frequently 'looked at'.

Might start my build on a new PC.....

Hmmm?

Sequestor - 16 Jul 2014 15:50 - 564 of 734

ask a stupid question eh?

ExecLine - 16 Jul 2014 17:53 - 565 of 734

Whatever. Look at my face.

:-)

Sequestor - 17 Jul 2014 07:42 - 566 of 734

On stockwatch the first trade of the day does not record T. Price or T.Vol

tournesol - 23 Jul 2014 13:41 - 569 of 734

ShareCruiser - 24 Jul 2014 18:30 - 570 of 734

Ian,

Is it possible to include Dixon Carphone (DC.L) in the Watch list?

Grateful it is can be.

midknight - 11 Aug 2014 10:44 - 573 of 734

Fred, I have that on my watchlist. Like TW. it takes a dot DC.

Fred1new - 11 Aug 2014 12:58 - 574 of 734

Midknight,

Thanks.

I am just a little slow.

8-)

Sandbanks - 11 Aug 2014 14:14 - 575 of 734

robertalexander - 14 Aug 2014 14:14 - 576 of 734

anyone had any problem using opera and the new Beta version. When i look at my 'isa' stockwatch it only shows 5 stocks yet when i look at manage watchlist it shows all of my stocks. When i change watchlist to a different one it shows more than 5. is there something in fields it is not picking up?

Has this been previously answered or are the techs on holiday?
