It transpires that Pipex webspace only supports FrontPage 98 and does not support the server extensions of version 2k. That introduces a problem as my 98 version was overwritten and deleted as the 2k version was installed.

:-(

In the meantime, I've uploaded the updated game to the manky Greatnow webspace and the file can be viewed by clicking here.

We have a new leader. WELL DONE FOALE!!

edit: FP98 now re-installed and viewable on Pipex again by clicking here.

hilary - 29 May 2003 16:52 - 559 of 591

Game updated again as at close tonight. It's on the Pipex webspace, but might take a little while to refresh as and when Pipex do whatever it is that they have to do.

One day to go and Foale seems to have developed a clear lead.

Jeroo - 30 May 2003 00:40 - 560 of 591

OH WHAT! I don't beeeelieve it! After leading from the second week I get knocked off top spot on the the penultimate day by Foale? How's that for luck, eh? Couple that with being 300 + points off my FTSE prediction (and a rather sad short on ANL today) - Tut.

Well done Foale.

hilary - 30 May 2003 12:44 - 561 of 591

I'm sorry, Jeroo. I'd suggest that it's a marathon not a sprint, but that's hardly compensation to you.

I've updated the game this lunchtime and it can be viewed by clicking here.

With under 4 hours to go, it'll take a miracle now to topple Foale from his perch. I haven't focused on the team side of things, but there are 3 teams all vieing for 1st place, with the Miners currently edging it. So well done to them too.

little woman - 30 May 2003 13:36 - 562 of 591

So Hilary, do you fancy doing the next game? Or will this be it?

jeffmack - 30 May 2003 13:39 - 563 of 591

Little woman, shame Hilary let our team down

hilary - 30 May 2003 14:06 - 564 of 591

Calm down, Jeff.

I've still got 2.5 hours to exercise poetic license with a spreadsheet and a web publishing tool. Who knows? A slip of the keyboard and I could win it yet.

:-))

little woman,

As you know, it wasn't my intention to run this game. Although I've now got the game set up so as to consume as little time as possible, it is still a tie nonetheless. Given a break from it, I might change my mind, but I've cetainly got no immediate plans for another game. I'd obviously be happy to hand over the spreadsheet file to anybody else who felt like taking it on.

little woman - 30 May 2003 14:29 - 565 of 591

I would offer, but over the next 2 months I'm away for quite a bit of it!

Also to be honest I don't think I could do as good as job as you have on it. Any other takers?

and shame on you Jeff, Hilary has spent so much time on helping us out, she hasn't had as much time as rest of us!

jeffmack - 30 May 2003 15:09 - 566 of 591

Might have known you girls would gang up on me sometime.

hilary - 30 May 2003 15:22 - 567 of 591

You want to be careful. A second slip of the keyboard and you could finish last!!

:-)

jeffmack - 30 May 2003 15:53 - 568 of 591

Little Woman
Give the footsie a late push and you might win the Footsie Comp

little woman - 30 May 2003 16:17 - 569 of 591

It's struggling! With 15 min to go I think it'll close at about the same as yesterday.

Oh well, I don't mind if I come second! I can kid my self I have a vague idea on whats going to happen, even if I don't really have a clue!

foale - 30 May 2003 16:36 - 570 of 591

Blimey whats been happenning

I have never won anything in my life

hilary - 30 May 2003 17:03 - 571 of 591

I'm going to update the game a bit later. In the meantime, here are tonights closing prices which I intend to use for the final scores.

Final table now published and it can be viewed by clicking here.

Congratulations to Foale who won by a clear 3k in the end. Well done also to the Miners who just edged it from the Top Cookies in the team game.

Finally a big kiss to Jeffmack for all his help in converting the files.

foale - 30 May 2003 17:39 - 573 of 591

Thanks Hilary...it was fun...but I think you did all the real work

Now I can enjoy the weekend

Go Miners...

See you in June..

Crocodile - 30 May 2003 17:57 - 574 of 591

Congratulations Foale & many thanks to you Hilary for all your hard work.
David

Jeroo - 30 May 2003 18:57 - 575 of 591

well done Foale mumble mumble mumble
A big thank you too for Hilary for stepping in, taking charge and keeping us all posted. And to Jeffmack for the technical knowledge without which we'd all need stronger glasses.

Jeroo

ps Foale - Perhaps we should team up next time eh? ;)

Socrates - 30 May 2003 19:07 - 576 of 591

Well done foale, to the victor the spoils.

I feel really downhearted, I should have had the courage of my convictions and gone for MPH from the outset, but that's trading for you. Faint heart never won fair lady. Talking of which, many thanks Hilary, you ran a fair game and it was fun.

jeffmack - 30 May 2003 21:46 - 577 of 591

Well done to Foale and thanks to the dancing queen for keeping the game going
