How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Aussies are missing first choice fly half Stephen Larkam and his replacement Matt Giteau has just returned from injury and not played any rugby

Aussies have lost their last 5 matches (against New Zealand and South Africa), and finished bottom of the tri-nations

Aussies have won 8 out of last 10 games against France, France having won the last 2 games in France.

If youre gonna lay the french, would be tempted to lay them in +3.5 market where they are still odds on, this puts a close Aussie win on your side.

Personally, cant see the Aussies winning this as the French are comfortably the best side in the Northern Hemisphere whilst the Aussies are the worst in the Southern Hemisphere. My only slight concern would be the weather - bad weather is likely to suit the aussies more and would certainly limit the french expansive back play making a tight low scoring game more likely.

Harlosh - 05 Nov 2005 18:59 - 5594 of 10502

Thanks Steve. I'll give it some thought.

The game is being played in MAreilles not Stade de France - the rteal home of french rugby and the crowd will be very passionate

Weather looks dry, can only see a France win, tempted to back them +7

PMSL

the sprinklers have come on for no reason

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 20:06 - 5597 of 10502

Australia have started the better but very little liquidity in the market

Harlosh - 05 Nov 2005 20:28 - 5598 of 10502

Was kicked off by my daughter again Steve. Now being threatened to go out by the other half.

It's a bleedin' womans world alright!

Harlosh - 05 Nov 2005 20:29 - 5599 of 10502

I see what you mean. The liquidity is awful. Think I'll give it a miss.

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 20:30 - 5600 of 10502

Ive backed France -7.5, and theyve just scored under the posts to cover 7 of the 7.5 :-)

Harlosh - 05 Nov 2005 20:35 - 5601 of 10502

Do you mean :-(

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 20:37 - 5602 of 10502

No i mean :-) Ive backed france to win by 7.5 or more so happy they are winnning though would have liked to have traded out. That said, if France can sort their line out theyll win this by a shed load

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 20:46 - 5603 of 10502

Now i mean :-( as 2 aussies pens make it 10-9

Fundamentalist - 05 Nov 2005 21:38 - 5604 of 10502

26-9 and time to turn the screen green - allez les bleus lol

bakko - 06 Nov 2005 16:01 - 5605 of 10502

Anyone on the footy this afternoon?

Fundamentalist - 06 Nov 2005 16:19 - 5606 of 10502
