THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

George 2517 and what about the other end of the scale you know the Tax dodgers, what are you going to do with them ?

Haystack - 29 Jan 2015 14:14 - 56036 of 81564

Who would swap the woman terrorist for the kidnapees?

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 14:15 - 56037 of 81564

George lets face it, the deficit could be wiped clean overnight if we caught these people robbing the country of tax while a benefit cap of £23 grand per annum is just a pin prick on the deficit.

Do you think you are morally right with your stance on benefits?.

Haystack - 29 Jan 2015 14:18 - 56038 of 81564

It is very doubtful if stopping tax dodgers would generate much money. That is without thinking of the manpower needed. The lefties always exaggerate the scale of these things.

cynic - 29 Jan 2015 14:22 - 56039 of 81564

that doesn't mean they shouldn't be stopped, but of course sticky and some of his pals seem to be unable to differentiate between avoidance with evasion

do some of the currently legit loopholes need to be tightened or stopped?
Yes

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 14:24 - 56040 of 81564

Of course we do Hays weve taken a leaf out of your book.

I wasnt asking you though, I was asking George thankyou.

2517GEORGE - 29 Jan 2015 14:31 - 56041 of 81564

gf I have no time for anyone who evades paying their dues. I have attended offices of both HMRC, and The Official Receiver as well as other agencies regarding 3 employers in my area for exactly that as well as fraud. The evidence is compelling and irrefutable yet both HMRC and the OR chose to put it on the back burner stating lack of manpower and prioritisation, as did our local constabulary, the fraud section in our area did have 11 officers but at the time of my visits that had been cut to 2. So these b's get away with it.

cynic - 29 Jan 2015 14:35 - 56042 of 81564

in my case, a legit claim for about £25k to be reimbursed from HMRC (VAT) has so far taken 3 years and has still not been resolved

but they're quick enough on the trigger if you owe even £100

2517GEORGE - 29 Jan 2015 14:36 - 56043 of 81564

''Do you think you are morally right with your stance on benefits?.''-------Absolutely.

Shortie - 29 Jan 2015 14:46 - 56044 of 81564

I hope you'll be claiming interest in the VAT not repaid Cynic..

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 15:07 - 56045 of 81564

http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-staggers/2011/11/tax-avoidance-justice-network £69 million

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2013/oct/11/uk-tax-gap-rises-hmrc-avoidance-
£35 Billion

So thats £69 million Tax evasion per annum and £35 Billion Tax avoidance per year

In total £104 billion. Thats out of date as 2014 fig not yet in so call that rounded £110 Billion not collected in taxes.

Now whats the Fraud on benefits per year.

http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2013/may/13/welfare-fraud-error-universal-credit

£1.2 Billion rounded for 2014 £1.4 Billion.

So we have ...........

A.Tax evasion and avoidance £110 Billion per annum

B. Benefit Fraud £1.2 Billion per annum.

Now whats the Budget Deficit ............

£105 Billion

http://www.economicshelp.org/blog/5922/economics/uk-budget-deficit-2/

Well yes Id say that kind of puts things into perspective and shows just how much the Tories and the Right Wing Press are conning the Gullible British Public.

Like I said the deficit could be paid overnight especially if you account for arrears of Tax avoided and evaded in the past three or four years where investigations are ongoing.

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 15:10 - 56046 of 81564

George do you not think you are being hoodwinked by the right wing press and media?.

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 15:12 - 56047 of 81564

George did you know that George Osbourne is currently sitting on a NI budget surplus of £30 billion, yes £30 billion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Ask yourself why is the NHS in such a mess then.

2517GEORGE - 29 Jan 2015 15:21 - 56048 of 81564

Yes I did see that somewhere gf, as for the NHS being in such a mess, if that £30b was given to the NHS it would still be in a mess, money alone is not the answer.
2517

MaxK - 29 Jan 2015 15:23 - 56049 of 81564

avoided = playing by the rules

evasion = taking the piss

No one pays tax they don't have to.

Shortie - 29 Jan 2015 15:46 - 56050 of 81564

I've always took the view that if it can't be proven you owe it then nothing is due.

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 15:53 - 56051 of 81564

You owe it to the people who have to pay extra because a small % of greedy bastards who know they can get away with it, because of a government who dont care and can make more political gain out of literally a handful of poor people in order to help there election chances.

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 15:56 - 56052 of 81564

And its time all this shit with the big corporations like Macdonnelds Apple Costa etc etc didnt dictate what taxes they pay, they arent the government. Let them call the goverments bluff, they need this country more than we need them.

Shortie - 29 Jan 2015 16:01 - 56053 of 81564

The thing is gf unless its commercial or considered as commercially trading then legally I wouldn't owe a penny. If someone is in full time employment paying tax under the PAYE system but also does a little private work on the side through word of mouth then its not exactly commercial as its subject to demand. Further to this I know a few people that buy old vehicles, do them up, drive around in them for a few months and sell them on making money. The profit here isn't taxable as its not considered commercial due to the volume and the fact they use the cars. The profit levels however can still be very good especially if they're being entered into shows.

goldfinger - 29 Jan 2015 16:22 - 56054 of 81564

Im not that bothered Shortie with the working man who makes a few bob in the black economy although you tend to find its that type who are always gobbing off about so called scroungers.

No its these celeb types like that ex Liverpool footie player who got caught in a tax dodging scheme who get on my tits. An average Joe like him........... murphy isnt it, with £3 million snuck away.

Chuck them in prison I say, its far worse than shop lifting.
