Been there before but couldn't appreciate it as a bad lunch from another bar earlier in the day had started affecting the system...!!

Was in the one just down the hill (Briar Rose) a few days ago ... don't know what was in the Pedigree tap but it certainly didn't taste like anything from Marstons. Also tried the refurbed Old Contemptibles (near Snow Hill) recently... Pesigree was off and the London Pride and Bass were 'debateable' - but sausage sandwich was excellent.

Witherspoon's quality can be questionable these days unfortunately.

Didn't realise Briar was Witherspoons until after entering the bar (the board outside was advertising a real ale festival 1st Nov - xx Nov). The video display behind the bar was advertising the number of real ale pints served in the previuos week - was something like 1446.
At Old Contemptibles guess I was just unlucky as bar staff kept apologising as they said it was down to new delivery that morning. (They also tried to palm off on me a Scottish 5 note).

That's why I like The Bartons Arms - good decor, good food at reasonable price, excellent range of real ales usually well kept, and no funny money in change. Pity about its location though. And at least the gentlemens rest room is actually on same floor as the bar (unlike Briar & Old C). And no pie throwing by waitresses (unlike Old Joint Stock).

At The Wellington we can have a toast to Fred ....

I hope you boys behave yourselves without my supervision.

Have a good meeting. Maybe I will be able to join you again in about 4-6 weeks time. That is if I can get out of hawkeye's sight, without her noticing.

Ever made it to Tardebigge? Nice place there does "home " cider, just mind the guard dogs. Take your own bucket/barrel.

No..... In my younger days spent sometime in Vale of Evesham - where there was one excellent cider outlet - but you had to put a deposit on the pint glass ... I remember it all had 'lumps' in it...

Hope you both got home smoothly. So that 'pie and pint' turned in to 'japanese finger snacks & wine'. Pity about the seminar. Seems the DOW finished up compared to its position at start of the seminar..... so we won't be getting 5.

Morning..... think it was that it (Dow) finished UP compared to the figure they had written on that piece of paper - therefore no 5 for us. They said they'd e-mail 'winners'.

For a company with mkt cap of 28m then guess they could afford yesterdays non-event. To lose one key speaker is unlucky, to lose both of them ...and have no sufficient substitutes !!!l They don't seem to pay attention to 'fine details : web site is still showing past seminars with facility to register for them... and Sharescope voucher they gave out yesterday says expiry date is 19 Oct..'

Perhaps highlight of evening was the smooth pint in Wellington - although the finger food after the seminar was quite nice. And we had a 'toast' for/to Fred....

HmmH, All I have is vegetarian food and yogourt!

Actually Chicken and Ham home made pie. 8-)
