THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

BOTH of them were singularly naive
listening to the wireless yesterday, there was an interview with one of the specialist lobbying companies
they said the direction of the questioning was so blatant, it should have been immediately obvious to where it was leading

MaxK - 24 Feb 2015 08:22 - 56912 of 81564

They think they are infallible.

Fred1new - 24 Feb 2015 08:24 - 56913 of 81564

Exec.

Didn't realise you are such a sensitive little chap.

Fred1new - 24 Feb 2015 08:26 - 56914 of 81564

Well, you can't suggest Jack and Mike don't support business.

Manuel, may understand why I don't vote!

TANKER - 24 Feb 2015 08:28 - 56915 of 81564

if can not live on a mp wage then resign or do not become a mp
its that simple .
in many ways this as nothing to do with gov its just plain greed
and they should be kicked out and lose all the benefits

cynic - 24 Feb 2015 08:31 - 56916 of 81564

i understand, but still think it's a cop out

Fred1new - 24 Feb 2015 08:32 - 56917 of 81564

What impressed me is that the pair suggested fees of over £5000 a day, while the minimum wage raise is suggested to be RAISED by 20 p per hour lifting it to £6.70 an hour.

Congratulations all round.

"cynic - 24 Feb 2015 08:08 - 56914 of 56918

BOTH of them were singularly naive"

Change that to "singularly to greedy" and then I think you will be nearer the mark.

cynic - 24 Feb 2015 08:38 - 56919 of 81564

ah but did you also hear about CofE
bishops call for "living wage" to be made "minimum wage" but still pay many of their workers minimum wage
hypocrisy starts at home :-)

cynic - 24 Feb 2015 08:39 - 56920 of 81564

i'll stick with naive thank you stan, or bloody stupid if you insist

Stan - 24 Feb 2015 08:48 - 56921 of 81564

Oh no you won't Alf, it's to greedy or nothing -):

Yes, and as the bloke on the street corner selling papers would shout, standard... double standards!

Fred1new - 24 Feb 2015 08:55 - 56922 of 81564

Manuel,

You are a knowledgeable man,

Do MP members of the various House of Commons committees get paid in payments get paid for their attendance at those meetings?

If so how much?

I have tried to find out but struggling!

(The difference between the MPs and the Church over Basic wage is that the Church admitted their mistakes and held their hands up and addressing it.

Mistake not hypocrisy.

A large number of conservative MP voted against the bill to introduce the Minimum Wage.

Lord Ashcroft: Ukip plunge in aftermath of Channel 4 programme

UK Independence Party drops 5 points in wake of Channel 4 docudrama and offensive comments from councillor

Ukip have been hit hard in the polls, falling five points in a week, according to polling carried out by the Conservative peer Lord Ashcroft.

The party’s support felt to 11 per cent of the vote, the lowest share since the former Tory donor began analysing voting intentions.

Ukip’s poll slump comes after Ofcom received thousands of complaints following a docudrama by Channel 4, Ukip: The First 100 Days, which imagined the party leader Nigel Farage as the Prime Minister.

A Ukip councillor was also expelled from the party after saying she had "a problem" with black people, and making other offensive remarks.

Found some of the information:

The salary entitlement of a Select Committee Chair is £81,936 (this figure comprises of MP's salary of £67,060 and additional salary for Select Committee Chairs of £14,876) from 1 April 2014.

It seems Rifkind is less than sensitive about his salary and remember the salary does not take into consideration his "expenses" and "perks" he of course thinks as a man of his "professional" standing and "ability" is entitled to.

It is a little "amusing" to see him chairman of a committee which may investigate "Stings and Scams".

He is as incompetent as Dodgy Dave and George who have been trying to tighten up on Tax evasion and avoidance techniques for nearly 5 years, but unable to find the screwdriver to tighten the screws on their mates.

Get ye gone!

Ashcroft is not a honest person a tax evader so who gives a toss about him he is scum . any one not paying their taxes should have no say in gov .
Ashcroft the dishonest not a lord a scumbag

cynic - 24 Feb 2015 09:29 - 56926 of 81564

fred - to the best of my knowledge, MPs just get paid a salary .... in fact, i'm sure that must be so, as some MPs have a very poor attendance record

btw, i caught a little snippet on the subject of minimum and living wage .....
if i understood correctly, the minimum wage is set by some committee which looks at a level which it feels can be afforded without putting jobs at risk - ie creating a situation of diminishing returns

TANKER - 24 Feb 2015 09:29 - 56927 of 81564

rifkind the liar I do not get a salary . the man is a clown and should now be investigated on is tax affairs

ExecLine - 24 Feb 2015 09:43 - 56928 of 81564

£67k a year?

This is 'a bit of a pittance' these days for a top guy, IMHO. Anyone who believes otherwise is quite naive.

In a meeting with the reporters, Sir Malcolm said: “You’d be surprised how much free time I have. I spend a lot of time reading, I spend a lot of time walking. Because I’m not a minister or full-time working for one person I can sort out my day”.

Mr Howells, who served as a Foreign Office minister under Tony Blair, said he was “bewildered” by Sir Malcolm’s claims and said he should step down.
