THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

fred - i'm very surprised that you remain so sanguine at the thought and indeed actuality of some 300k immigrants a year
for fairly obvious reasons, and it is a matter of record, i would never want to block ALL immigration, but in today's economic climate, it needs to be curtailed and very significantly
rather crassly and not entirely accurately, one could comment that charity begins at home

=========

btw, it should not be forgotten that even during the war and probably even after, jewish refugees and no doubt others had to have guarantors that they would not be a strain on the economy

victims found

As many as 373 children may have been targeted for sex by gangs of men in Oxfordshire in the last 16 years, a serious case review found.

The investigation came after a sadistic sex gang of seven men were jailed in 2013 for abusing six girls in Oxford, between 2004 and 2012.

Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire County Council made "many errors" in that case and could have acted sooner.

A victim of the gang said the issue had been "swept under the carpet".

Of the 373 cases, the council said victims had included a small number of boys.
the race card again stopped police and councillors from speaking out

why are they allowed the race card

oxford
Rotherham
wellington
Rochdale
burnley
London
Bradford
Manchester

the list goes on

these people think it is normal to rape children that is their culture
we do not want their culture it is vile

"charity begins at home"

Should it?

Isn't it often confused with "short term self interest".

AID Aid to Sierra Leone to treat Ebola (or its equivalent) may in the in the long term prevent its arrival at Dover.

Ie. mutual gain EU, leads to less attention being paid to the "needs of the country which jumps", but not to the effects on the defecting country.

Putin, Orland, Merkel negotiations comes to mind.

Fragmentation of EU foreign policy comes to mind with weakness in dealing with Russia and distrust leading to "minor" countries losing faith in the organisation.

( That doesn't indicate that individual countries shouldn't express discord.)

=====

Immigration is World problem and carping by the "disillusioned" or those looking for excuses for their own failings does not effectively address the problem.

=====

Also, many of your ancestors immigrating to this country in earlier periods were penniless and aided by others (including those not of their own) when they came to the UK. Ie, Charity to others.

cynic - 03 Mar 2015 13:38 - 57193 of 81564

lighten up fred!

when "my ancestors" came to this country around 1900, economic help only came from their fellow brethren
mind you, my mother's father i think it was, got dumped in L'pool having paid for stowage (or whatever cheapest form was called) to NY and being conned into believing that was where they were

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2015 15:29 - 57194 of 81564

Think, perhaps, he should have been dumped over board.

It would have save me some problems.

8-)

But I am a little irritated by knee jerk and simplistic solutions to problems which don't consider the consequences of seemingly "emotionally appealing solutions".

And beware, I am interested in thanatology!

9-)

cynic - 03 Mar 2015 16:24 - 57195 of 81564

fred - why do "we" have to worry about your assessment that immigation is a "world problem"?

mock as much as you like, paint your utopian picture as often as you like, but the hard fact remains that at this time, uk does not have the economy, infrastructure and, above all, the populace's will or wish to continue with immigration on the current massive scale

you may not like that hard assessment, but it is a matter of fact, especially the last bit .... face up to it

i trust your interest is primarily for yourself .... in simple terms, the worms and maggots will have you, if they have not started already

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2015 16:57 - 57196 of 81564

MAnuel,

I am beginning to question your hold on fact or reality.

At sometime, or other, many of the present day problems including immigration will have will be addressed as World Problems by all the major powers (and minor countries.)

The positioning you seem to advocate is the value of "self advancement" at the expense of others. The "I am all right Jack and let the others go hang." Primitive thinking, practice by those who think they are "special or elite". The strongest will will survive and to hell with the rest. (Slavery, Fascism, Racial hatred is demonstrative of this philosophy to a lesser degree. All of which have failed or are failing,)

Recall the 60s and "we shall overcome". Sometimes you appear to be a relic of that period.

-=-=-=

Right now check what the "immigrant" community add to the economy of the UK.

Check how the provide the "oil" for the functioning of the economy.

Check what they do for the "Social and NHS services" and over areas.

Cameron is already begging other countries for Doctors and Nurses and other professionals.

Look for the reasons why.

I have been always been aware of my own personal irrelevance and been faintly amused by it.

No problem with recycling, but I doubt that I am as toxic as you seem to be, and my remains will hopefully improve the soil they are disposed in.

Have a better day!

I'm not in this debate any more, can't be bothered ,i'm right ,i always am :)

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2015 17:21 - 57200 of 81564

JB,

Are you sure?

Look over you shoulder, there is a Manuel about!

8-)

cynic - 03 Mar 2015 17:27 - 57201 of 81564

fred - if you looked back far enough - or was there an immigration thread at some time? - you would see that i am a strong advocate of immigration and remain so, but not on the stupid open-door policy currently being allowed

Stan - 03 Mar 2015 17:55 - 57202 of 81564

Alf you say BL and the "Con'" Government let to many in at once and you blame both, so why are you voting the "Con" artists in again then?

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2015 18:04 - 57203 of 81564

Manuel,

I did notice your previous stance and recent modification of opinion (surprised me, as I thought you to rigid to change. 8-)).

The effects of the "integration" into EU and "grants" and ease of trade will improve the GDPs of Romania and Poland, (They already are "improving".)

Improved living standards will lessen the gain and wish to migrate.

I would expect the level to drop, from Eastern Europe, (? Ukraine). However the Middle Eastern and African "problems" may encourage many to wish to escape to Europe and the UK.

If it does that may stimulate the "immigrant" problem in a slightly different way.

---------

I often tease some Asians as why they wish to come and live in a cold, damp, miserable country like England, when they could have stayed at home in the warmth.

Answers, generally to get a job, to get an education for their children, "standard" of living and earn enough money to go home sometime in the future.

(Occasionally, the response was to escape the wife. He had my sympathies.)

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2015 18:14 - 57204 of 81564

Stan,

Manuel has suggested this tory leadership is a useless bunch, thinks the same of labour lib.dem and the kipper party, but then decries me for not voting in the G.E. for and a further period of inadequacy.

Asking, me to validate one or other party and it's policies, but at the same time decrying the policies.

Stan, Manuel is getting old and confused.

You will have to forgive him.

Or do you have to?

cynic - 03 Mar 2015 18:32 - 57205 of 81564

no more confused than i ever was ... indeed not at all
i strongly believe that we have an obligation to vote in a democracy, and i shall therefore vote for the whom i consider the least worst
if there was an outstanding person even of labour or ukip hue or even worse standing in this constituency, i hope i'ld vote for that person - eg i could easily see myself voting for farage, though i think his party is overrun by a bunch of total nutters (MrT is a prime example!)

Stan - 03 Mar 2015 18:46 - 57206 of 81564

Fred you are so right... yet again about Alfredo -):

So as I say Alf, you are voting "Con" yet again, thank you for the confirmation.

That is reading between the lines of course.

I shall now retire for foodingtons.

dreamcatcher - 03 Mar 2015 18:51 - 57207 of 81564

Love it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2015 19:04 - 57208 of 81564

dreamcatcher - 03 Mar 2015 19:38 - 57209 of 81564
