THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Nicola Sturgeon says Trident conflict would not stop SNP backing other Labour policies

Scottish first minister says party’s support for minority Labour government would not be conditional on Ed Miliband scrapping nuclear missile system

Severin Carrell and Phoebe Greenwood

Friday 6 March 2015 08.08 GMT

Nicola Sturgeon has dropped demands that a minority Labour government must cancel a new Trident nuclear weapon in return for the Scottish National party’s backing at Westminster.

The SNP leader said that her party could comfortably vote for Labour policies on a case-by-case basis without a deal on Trident, after implying repeatedly in recent months that cancelling its £100bn replacement would be a critical issue for the party.

In a wide-ranging video interview with the Guardian, Sturgeon again played down the prospects of the SNP forging a formal coalition deal with Labour if, as the polls strongly suggest, her party overtakes Labour as Scotland’s largest party at Westminster by winning dozens of extra seats in May.

“It’s more likely to be an arrangement where we would support Labour on an issue-by-issue basis,” she said, in the first of a filmed series of leader’s interviews by the Guardian. “On that basis, there are many issues we could agree on which we would support but we would not vote for Trident.”

We will never vote for the renewal of Trident; that’s a decision which will be made in the next Westminster parliament

Nicola Sturgeon

Asked explicitly if that meant the SNP could still back Labour policies without Ed Miliband promising to scrap Trident, she did not disagree, replying: “But we would not in any vote support the renewal of Trident and I can’t make that any clearer than I have already made it.”

What was Cameron's pledge on immigration?

A pack of lies based based on fallacious interpretation of EU rules, which he knew.

However, I suggest you ask somebody working for immigration services on cut backs under Cameron and chaos in the departments, trying to work out suitable policies to deal with problems.

Suggest you look at the EU regulations and Thatcher, Major's signatures on the treaties and their delight at thoughtless expansion and admission of the Eastern European countries.

Also, suggest if UK was of more importance to EU and more integrated then they would be in a better position to negotiate numbers and "usage" of "Welfare and NHS service".

Exec.

Talking as a voting member of the knife in the back party your remark is laughable.

At least the Milibands knew that they were competing for a role which they both wanted.

The deals weren't done in the manner of the grandees of the confidence trickster party behind closed door.

Do you mean a younger brother should not run faster than the older brother, or compete for a situation.

(Bad luck on a twin born 10 mins later than the first one. Grow up.)

As far as a deal with SNP and Labour, they are both left of centre parties with many policies and values in common and certainly neither party would form a coalition government with the neo-fascist leadership of the present tory party. (I doubt that any other would do the latter other than a few cranks in the UKIP party.)

If the alignment after gave a working majority to SNP and Labour it would be sensible as there would be representation for the Scottish voters in an UK government.

Personally, if there is, as expected, a coalition or (alliance) government led by Miliband after the G.E., I would like to see representation of the Lib/dem party and possibly a "green" having some "office" in the government which would give a fairer representation for the majority of voters.

Ps.

Do you really want a chicken like Cameron as PM again.

Also, have a look at Osborne's economic policies and noticed the changes which he introduced 2+ years ago when he realised his previous policies were failing.

Like his master he goes whichever way he thinks the wind is blowing in order to hold on to power.

I know I stabbed my brother David in the back to gain power, but don't worry I will look after YOU. Yeah right.
Hypocrite Harman, I don't know why I singled her out the Labour party is full of hypocrites, anyway she's been keeping a low profile lately.

My point was Fred that we are swamped with immigrants more than defending any party ...
And you can see we are !!!! millions !!!!!

ExecLine - 06 Mar 2015 13:09 - 57300 of 81564

I am growed up, Fred.

That's why I don't trust those scum bags at the top of the current Labour Party, who are promising anything and everything to everyone, hoping to gain power at any cost.

I actually want more of the same until Boris Johnson gets to be PM. Then I will be very happy - and also very well entertained by some very interesting politics.

Reflect on your words chosen.

Perhaps, reflect on 1930s in Germany and the rhetoric of that period.

Many might think the words reflect your core values.
(Slight edit modification from original post "Many might think they are they reflect your core values".)

Exec.

I would like to see the Berlusconi of British politics as leader of the torrid party.

With luck he would lead them further into the wilderness chasing chickens.

-=-=

Promises, check Cameron's hand outs to the hedge funds (tax reductions) and the Golden Oldies (promises) in hope of bribing them.
=-=

Check out the heritage of many of the MPs in the present government and you may find some Poles amongst them.

The tory party is a busted flush.

By the way who busted Maggie Thatcher's flush.

I believe is was some of her "close" friends in her own cabinet who discarded her.

Bring back Heath, I say.

Can't remember what he signed or sank!

For decades, planetary scientists have suspected that ancient Mars was a much warmer, wetter environment than it is today, but estimates of just how much water Mars has lost since its formation vary widely.

Now, new isotopic measurements by researchers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center reveal that an ocean once covered approximately twenty percent of the Martian surface. This new picture of early Mars is considerably wetter than many previous estimates, raising the odds for the ancient habitability of the Red Planet.

Just because you guys don't know Jack Shit about Mars, there's no need to be jealous and afraid.

In fact, if Mars were to ever adopt Christianity, it might never look back. Not a lot of people know that.

Wonder why Dodgy Dave want the debate/s before he launches the next book of party lies. Sorry his personal manifesto.

Is it before he wants the "package" open to scrutiny.

I hope the the Broadcasters have the guts to tell him to think again and prepare for a debate 1 month before the election and leave an empty chair for him.

He and his advisers are even lousy PR agents.

Hmmm? I think I'm a bit bored.....

Actually, I've just had a refund from a guy who sold me a 'part used' £200 M&S Gift Card. The card had £185 left on it according to the seller, who had quite a good trading history too.

When the envelope containing said gift card arrived, duly posted 'Signed For', guess what?

Correct.

Someone had forced open the end of the envelope and removed the gift card from the envelope. Of course, you find out the envelope is actually empty after you have 'signed for' the envelope and the post man has gone past and is well down the road.

How would you differentiate between whether the seller ever put the gift card into the envelope to start with and therefore perpetrated a scam - or whether the envelope was interfered with, say somehow inside the post office? All so as to defend yourself against an accusation that you had taken the card yourself?

To me, this had all the hall marks of a clever and brilliant scam done by the seller. There was quite a bit more 'individual related aspects to the buying/selling relationship, which didn't quite fit together neatly too. I 'smelled a rat' sorta kinda. I totted up about 15 weird aspects to the whole thing.

The amount I paid for the £185 gift card was only £155 and which was a bloody good deal, I thought. It turns out it was too good! Of course it was! How could I not have seen that this was going to one of things that was sure to go wrong?

Looking at the time of the month the deal took place, I do now believe too, that it was actually a 'Pay Day Loan Scam' sale. The discount was far too high and the Seller wanted some 'instant cash' for sure.

You'll have to give this 'story' of mine some thought. Perhaps you might like to think how you yourself would try to perpetrate such a scam and at what time of the pay cycle in the month you would do it?

Do you think you could get away with sending an open ended empty envelope, using insured Royal Mail postage and which had a slit or opened end, so that the empty contents would be discovered only upon very close examination by the buyer well after it had been delivered?

How do you open your envelopes? Do you just turn them over and then look where to slit the envelope with a knife blade?

In this case, that's when you get to find out, that this has already been done!

Well, I did have a bit of a fight on my hands with this guy but did manage to win in the end. I did get my refund from him eventually, although it did take quite a lengthy fight. He is actually a courier by profession too! That stinks too! He didn't appear to be very good at wrapping a Gift Card inside an envelope though - or did he? Where might someone have learnt that trick from, eh?

I am very lucky getting my refund back! But what a fight!
