THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

jimmy b:

You say, at post 57431 above:

".......i have posted here for a very long time however i do take exception to be compared with someone who believes in the holocaust ."

Well, jimmy b, I for one believe that the 'holocaust', namely a genocide in which approximately six million Jews were killed by the Nazi regime and its collaborators, actually happened and is a factual and well documented proven event.

I also understand, that an additional five million non-Jewish victims of Nazi mass murders are included by some historians.

This would bringing the total of people exterminated by the Nazi regime to something around approximately eleven million.

These killings took place throughout Nazi Germany and German-occupied territories and primarily during the period 1941 to 1945.

So....

What on earth do you mean?

cynic - 10 Mar 2015 18:35 - 57436 of 81564

i think fred may have compared jimmy to hitler, but i admit jimmy's post was slightly ambiguous

Fred1new - 10 Mar 2015 19:10 - 57437 of 81564

Manuel,

Sometimes, you are remind me of the village idiot who has just arrived outside the court of law, baying to the mob the accused should be hanged the accused, without having heard, or read the evidence, and without realising the “accused” had been found not guilty, exonerated and released.

But, seemingly, information is not you a criteria which you need in order for you to form an opinion.

Carry on scanning.
-=-=-=-==

JB,

Your post contained

“My point was Fred that we are swamped with immigrants more than defending any party ...
And you can see we are !!!! millions !!!!!

-=-==-
=-=-=-=-=-=
Right,

First, walk up to a West Indian in Handsworth Birmingham and say to him “you lot are swamping the UK”.

He/she may say to you, "that is very Inflammatory of you", or laugh at you thinking you are joking, or even react differently.

Secondly pinpointing making scapegoats of a group in society, often provokes dysfunction which backfires on all of society.

That was one the methods of the Fascist and Mosely used in the 30s to obtain “power”.

Many see it as being used by UKIP, BNP and far right to gain political influence at the moment. Also, the constant “harping” about welfare “scroungers” and “workshy” bandied about and encouraged by IDS and cronies is conflating different problem and inflaming the situation.

Emotionally appealing, but is rewarding.
Hence my reason for suggesting “reflect”.

I was not suggesting that you are a fascist, but perhaps suggesting you may be a little blind to the effect of words chosen.

I also think that "immigration" has problems surrounding it which need to be addressed in sensible and coordinated way.

=======-=-=-==

Bur for now check the figures of those supposed “immigrants” who came in and out of the country.

Check the number of “students” who came into, but not registered leaving.

Check the number of expats coming home.

Etc.

A lot of the figures used are fictitious and the Border Control and Immigration Service departments have had their work force slashed by the present government.
But their figures are questionable.

Etc.
=-=-=-==

Sometimes we are led blindly by the nose.
=-=-=-=-=

I hope you have a better day to-morrow.

===

Exec,

Total casualties of WW2 has been assessed as more than 80 million.

cynic - 10 Mar 2015 20:04 - 57438 of 81564

fred - are you actually suggesting that the number of immigrants has not and is not increasing dramatically?

jimmy b - 10 Mar 2015 20:31 - 57439 of 81564

For those of you questioning me ,i must admit i did get my words mixed up .
Fred referred to me as having the same views of 1930's Germany or Hitler .
Execline i don't know why you had to chip in as you could see what i meant .

MaxK - 10 Mar 2015 20:32 - 57440 of 81564

Fred needs to visit londonistan, try Shepherds Bush....even Freds selective tunnel vision would get a surprise.

The place wasn't just busy, the word busy doesent do it justice, try "heaving"

I'm not sure what all these people strolling along do for a living, but they sure as hell weren't working (around 11am)

He might also question the ever rising social security bill when there is supposedly record employment.

You up for it Fred?

MaxK - 10 Mar 2015 20:34 - 57441 of 81564

It was obvious you had made a ricket jimmy, ignore the sniping.

jimmy b - 10 Mar 2015 20:39 - 57442 of 81564

Yes cheers i said it the wrong way round i won't post here again ,not worth the abuse .

cynic - 10 Mar 2015 20:42 - 57443 of 81564

not quite fair about shepherds bush as even in the early 70s it had a heavy west indian and asian population, as shown by the market traders in the market along goldhawk road - i lived in cromwell grove at that time

MaxK - 10 Mar 2015 20:51 - 57444 of 81564

jimmy, keep posting, not everyone on here is a tosser.

c.

Made no comment about colour/race...the comment was about vast quantities of apparently independently rich people who seemingly don't need to work.

cynic - 10 Mar 2015 20:57 - 57445 of 81564

welfare and benefit spending
as far as i can determine, in the 1960's this was running at about 20% of gov't revenues and is now at about 30%

i'm not sure if "gov't revenues" are the same as GDP, but i'ld guess so

anyway, is it surprising that this is becoming or even has become too onerous a burden in its present form?

MaxK - 10 Mar 2015 21:04 - 57446 of 81564

Gross Domestic Product is not gov revenue, it's the total transaction value of the whole country.

Gov revenue is the tax (in it's many forms) collection element.

I fear that the Greeks are going to leave the Euro and although The Germans and the Euro finance people say they wish Greece to stay : they probably are coming to terms that an exit is almost probably unavoidable due to the unsustainable impact upon that country remaining in the single currency system, having to pay of debts for at least another 20 years or so.......it will be miraculous if there is not an exit...

ExecLine - 10 Mar 2015 22:26 - 57448 of 81564

Apologies, jimmy b. We all make the odd mistake.

And please keep posting, kind sir.

I say "pitty they did not take " cynic " with them, although I know it is very difficult to convert a jew into a muslim

Fred1new - 10 Mar 2015 22:38 - 57450 of 81564

JB,
I was not abusing you, or attempting to so.

I was challenging the words you used and the possible interpretations of motivation which could be attached to their use.

I know nothing about you, other than what I can gather from postings.

If I intended to be abusive to you I would have been more direct and clear.

Max,

If you go to other places in the UK., an "immigrant" is an unusual feature. In many parts of Birmingham there are few immigrants. In the parts I go shopping for spices and “exotic” fruit I am often the only paleface.

The shopkeepers know me and very helpful and we are able to tease one another to a certain level.

Think of reasons they collect in groups or certain areas. Like the Brits in Spain and the Dordogne, out of the economic factors but often for social welfare reasons (housing, churches mosques etc. and social support.

======

As far as numbers are regulations are concerned I have some general knowledge, as I have a family member working on investigation and discussion of rules and regulations and data collection and analysis of "bloody confusing data" which has been collected or not collected over the last 20 years, by the Home Office and Immigration Control etc. Also the member has to travel one or two days a week to work in Brussels and London.

The member thinks the problem has been mishandled etc, for years and much of the data collected dubious and difficult to interpret and then propose sensible procedures from.

Also, due to cut-backs, uncertainties about employment and method of management there is a degree of apathy and many looking for work elsewhere at higher incomes.

Also, although there is "will" in Europe to address the problems, the resolution are difficult to define.

The 'Re-Instate Jeremy Clarkson Petition' is here.

Go on! You know it doesn't make sense to sign this and get the arrogant tosser back on our screens.

Nearly 90,000 have done so far and so only another 60,000 signatures to go.

"Threw a punch, eh? Hmmm? It didn't do John Prescott any harm."

"Clarkson and Co. get their show viewed by 300m viewers around the world. I guess that means it makes money? But don't forget, that the BBC is run on subscriptions. So, even though it makes money, of course the BBC can get rid of Top Gear."

cynic - 11 Mar 2015 08:25 - 57453 of 81564

max (57449) - the real point of my comment was the expansion and huge strain that welfare costs imposed on the taxpayers under the current system

of course, we all and any gov't have to determine how the annual financial cake should be divided up

cynic - 11 Mar 2015 08:29 - 57454 of 81564

clarkson - not hugely fussed either way, though his programme is certainly very entertaining .... however, he is certainly has an excessively high opinion of himself, but that in itself is no reason to scrap a very popular programme and sack its main character
