How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Steve....Let's hope so but I'll be leaving for work in 10 mins so will miss the final moments

Scripophilist - 16 Nov 2005 08:01 - 5787 of 10502

Its a rollercoaster. Kids were up a lot last night so an early start for me. Been nipping in and out of the draw. Difficult to see how its going to finish. Great entertainment.

The rate Eng are scoring I might just catch the end!

Just scalped a few ticks

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:07 - 5790 of 10502

Be careful scalping Bak - a wicket will move the market at least 50 ticks currently

bakko - 16 Nov 2005 08:08 - 5791 of 10502

Thanks Steve,

All green now but fingers crossed for Eng to pull it off!

Scripophilist - 16 Nov 2005 08:12 - 5792 of 10502

Did you see that 10k go through?

Scripophilist - 16 Nov 2005 08:14 - 5793 of 10502

I've been making a book but not very well have some exposure on the draw.

Scripophilist - 16 Nov 2005 08:15 - 5794 of 10502

That helped

Morning all. What have I missed!!! Just watched Jones being bowled

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:16 - 5797 of 10502

Morning Edward

Did you leave your England lay in the market with a limit of 3.0 ????

bakko - 16 Nov 2005 08:17 - 5798 of 10502

Catch you guys later and good luck to Eng.

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:18 - 5799 of 10502

England got to 60-1 then lost 3 quick wickets. Flintoff and Pieterson got going then both played awful shots. Giles got castled by Akhtar then a good rally by Jones and Udal

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:18 - 5800 of 10502

oh shit

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:21 - 5801 of 10502

Book on match odds went to about 85% for a few secs there!!! Grabbed a bit of England at 15s

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:21 - 5802 of 10502

laid off at 9s lol

compoundup - 16 Nov 2005 08:22 - 5803 of 10502

Agree not good for England but just dived in in time to make 40 ticks in less seconds on Pakistan :-)))

compoundup - 16 Nov 2005 08:24 - 5804 of 10502

What a nail-biter - just look at the book shifting

Fundamentalist - 16 Nov 2005 08:25 - 5805 of 10502

1.3 Pakistan is a huge price
