Barkley stuns Chelsea with late u-turn
Lyndon Lloyd Thursday 31 August 2017 83 Comments [Jump to last]
Ross Barkley has turned down a move to Chelsea after a £35m fee had been agreed with Everton and his medical was already underway.
Sky Sports reported that the 23-year-old was set to complete a deadline-beating £30m move to Stamford Bridge but changed his mind before the deal could be completed.
Though there are conflicting accounts of whether the player actually started his medical, the general story was corroborated by the Blues' major shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, who told Sky that Barkley wanted to reconsider his position in January, by which time he should have recovered from a hamstring injury.
Seems a strange decision by Ross. Lot of conspiracy theory's circulating. Surely Chelsea would have given him more money than Spurs would have paid him salary wise. Maybe money isn't a factor at all who actually knows. He needs to be playing, it wont be as a ten if he stays at Everton there are three now ahead of him. Weird situation.

Wayne Rooney arrested on suspicion of drink-driving
Everton striker Wayne Rooney has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, the BBC understands.
England's all-time record scorer was stopped by police near his home in Cheshire on Thursday night.
Rooney, 31, announced his international retirement last week, after 53 goals for his country in 119 appearances.
He rejoined his boyhood club Everton in the summer and scored in each of his opening two Premier League games.
Cheshire Police declined to comment and Everton has not responded to the BBC's request for a statement.

Apparently Rooney was overheard saying "Ronald said we need to wrack up as many points as possible, so i thought I'd steel a march on the rest, by bagging 6 whilst the rest are on international duty. People thought I was daft, but I didn't retire from international duty for nothing, who's the clever one now?"

Nah don't feel sorry for Rooney, Dick Head got caught. Great timing Wazza, as if the Ross Barclay fiasco, failing to sign a centre forward and left back was not embarassing enough for the Blues you plank.

The word great seems to be one of the most overused words bandied around these days, but if you do want to use it how about Bobby Charlton?
