Trying a couple of dodgy shorts - based on the 10, 15 and 30 MACDs - the first 2 seem to be confirming a turn - but could be false. The 30 minute hasn't crossed yet and the 60 minute shows no real signs - so may well be a bad call.

Stops in @ 645 - just above the recent high

mg - 27 Jul 2006 14:10 - 5795 of 11056

Don't ya just hate it when that happens :(

Should stick to the 60 minute MACD

Hope you've still got that long open chocciepoos

chocolat - 27 Jul 2006 14:11 - 5796 of 11056

Good call mg :))
Still longer though ;)
It bounced off one of my lines there and it's banging against the next one now

Edit: it's through !!
PS Sorry to hear that meggers, thought you'd have taken it :(

mg - 27 Jul 2006 14:17 - 5797 of 11056

Wasn't watching - and probably wouldn't have taken it anyway :(

Nice trading - you little bon bon you

hilary - 27 Jul 2006 14:36 - 5798 of 11056

Wow, what a day.

I was caught swimming outside this morning when the thunderstorm came. That was rather scary. Pakistan are all out now for 119.

And cable's gone up another 100+ pips in the day to boot.

:o)

edit: I reckon the top of the channel's currently around 1.8720 but it will probably be closer to around 1.8750 by the time it gets there.

mg - 27 Jul 2006 15:16 - 5799 of 11056

Looks like the girlies are getting it on the up - that's more than I can ...... always the way !!

Well done you 2

Harlosh - 27 Jul 2006 15:30 - 5800 of 11056

Congratulations on your anniversary MM.

MightyMicro - 27 Jul 2006 15:59 - 5801 of 11056

Harlosh: many thanks!

Hilary -- thank you, how kind!

mg - 27 Jul 2006 16:56 - 5802 of 11056

How remiss of me, I was too busy losing money to offer my congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Mighty Micro. Good innings that !!!

Respect
mg

bakko - 27 Jul 2006 17:39 - 5803 of 11056

Congratulations to the MMs!

I've got a long way to go to even get close to your score!

bakko - 27 Jul 2006 18:53 - 5804 of 11056

On the trading front, I had a poor start having shorted and got stopped out for -40 ticks :-(

Came roaring back in the afternoon squeezing out +22 ticks on a short taken off the back of the lunchtime news item. I then reversed to a long and closed up for a further +67ticks :-))

chocolat - 27 Jul 2006 22:42 - 5805 of 11056

Hope you both had a lovely day, furry godmother ;)

chocolat - 27 Jul 2006 22:47 - 5806 of 11056

And well done to everyone, whichever way up you played it :)

Sue 42 - 28 Jul 2006 08:20 - 5807 of 11056

I am short & wondering whether to close or wait - any views?

bakko - 28 Jul 2006 09:24 - 5808 of 11056

Sue, Your short looks good so far but tread carefully cos there's news release minutes from now which can drastically change your current position in either direction.

Edit..Btw, the current main trend is in an upwards direction

ptholden - 28 Jul 2006 09:35 - 5809 of 11056

Wll, I'm Long Sue, which should mean that your Short is safe, cos I generally get it wrong :-O But you never know just for once................?
Sorry, not much help I know.

pth

Sue 42 - 28 Jul 2006 09:39 - 5810 of 11056

I have closed it for +80

edit - this is too funny - I have just closed my cable short on the basis of the chart - unfortunately I was looking at the Gold/Dollar chart! Doh!

hilary - 28 Jul 2006 09:42 - 5811 of 11056

Errrr. There isn't any GBP news today to affect the market and trade is expected to be thin ahead of the US.

NIESR rate hike call was overnight and there was a comment from the Tiddlywinks about not needing to widen the Yuan band, but that's it on the news front.

bakko - 28 Jul 2006 09:50 - 5812 of 11056

Thanks Hilary, I must be still asleep ;-)

ptholden - 28 Jul 2006 11:12 - 5813 of 11056

Blimey closed me long for +14 reversed and just closed again for +10. Really want to go long again, but am out for the remainder of the day, so decisions, decisions.

Well done Sue :-)
