rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

while it is good to see both ftse and dow romping away today, it does cause me a little concern that dow has yet to break back above 11780, so don't break out the champagne just yet

its the march quarter or as some might say the spring equinox, so might be a good time for a low or high reversal to set in. as always things are not always so clear or cut and dry,today seems to have muddied the waters. another couple of down days would have been good for a potential equinox reversal from the low. however looking at it from a weekly perspective might help clarify. not sure how but i suppose a break below this weeks low would be ultra significant.thats my chartist viewpoint. could be wrong so please dyor.

WLF daily volume only averages 181k, so in that respect it most certainly is a minnow

The volumes are low only since the credit crunch.

Nevertheless, only 5438 so far.
