rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Mr.C reminds me of a friend I brought home for tea many years ago, I told my old dear mum he was gay, to which she said nothing wrong with being a happy person.
C will remember when it was illegal to be gay and they got jail time.

Wasn't that why Oscar Wilde legged it over to The Continent?

nothing to beat a good bit of handbagging between pubic schoolboys ...... anyway, back to things in hand ....
while it is good to see both ftse and dow romping away today, it does cause me a little concern that dow has yet to break back above 11780, so don't break out the champagne just yet

its the march quarter or as some might say the spring equinox, so might be a good time for a low or high reversal to set in. as always things are not always so clear or cut and dry, today seems to have muddied the waters. another couple of down days would have been good for a potential equinox reversal from the low. however looking at it from a weekly perspective might help clarify. not sure how but i suppose a break below this weeks low would be ultra significant.thats my chartist viewpoint. could be wrong so please dyor.
regards and good luck to all

ps this theoram if that is what it is, seems to apply also to many individual, but not all, stocks, so why not check back on all your holdings?
good luck.

Just to look at the problems the market has, coming up to 9am a company such as WLF which you can hardly call a tiddler has a trading volume of .... 0

WLF daily volume only averages 181k, so in that respect it most certainly is a minnow

The volumes are low only since the credit crunch.
Nevertheless, only 5438 so far.

a very good end to what was a very scary week, and to my amazement i find that in that time, i only lost a minimal amount, though it was very nastily larger between times

all very dull and dreary again, though is suspect little volume ..... having opened brightly, ftse is now -36 at 5947, which is vaguely important being below 6000
i suppose we may see some more life once the roi announcement is out and the AV result known - local elections are almost certain to be horrid for tories and lib dems, though my own view is that it was absolutely correct to take hard and fast action to reduce the awful financial mess bequeathed by labour
for myself, at least MRW, BLNX and BAO are performing brightly today
