How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I enjoyed and profited from the womens' tennis semis and final last week and I fancy having a look at the snooker matches tonight (Maguire v Davis & O'Sullivan v Junhui).
I imagine the fluctuations in the odds won't be as wild as in the tennis but still plenty of movement as fortunes change from point to point.
Have you any recommendations please? My instinct is to back the unfancied (or lay the fav) player and hope to close out if the outsider has a promising spell.
The downside is that there's no profiting if the fav plays like the winner from the outset and the outsider doesn't get a look in.
Anything in frame by frame betting or final frames score? I await the benefit of your knowledge!!

have traded the premier league a few times with some success however only to small stakes.
First thing to be aware of is this is very much a 3 way market like a cricket test match - invariably the draw will be the second favourite. The matches are 6 frames whatever happens all are played so 3-3 represents the draw.
From what i have seen the swings are quite big when a player pots a red early in a frame though imo these are often overdone and the odds revert back if the intial break isnt greater than 30 - obviously if they go onto win the frame then the odds will collapse further though from what i have seen very few frames in this shortened version of the game are won in 1 visit.
As for initial strategies i would happily lay macguire at just above evens (though a hard one to call as neither player has won any of the 4 games so far and cant qualify so are only playing for "pride", but i would be a backer of o'sullivan at 1.75 (he has won 3 and drawn 1 out of 4 played so far whilst his opponent has 1 won drawn 3). The only caveat with the O Sullivan game is he doesnt need to win to qualify whereas his opponent does.
Also, be wary of backing heavy odds on shots - in the last round jimmy white was 3-0 down and his opponent traded at 1.01 and it ended a draw (i layed at 1.03 yeeehaaaaaa)

Cheers Fundamentalist - that's really useful, particularly the website you quoted.
Seven draws out of 16 matches struck me as interesting!
Maybe back the draw after the first frame?

Not much money on the Wales games, but it was consistently mispriced, as everyone assumed it was a 90mins game, rather than 80mins.

Evening All,
A bit quiet here as I can't find anything decent out there to trade so just been reading some of the threads on betfair. Some decent info out there. One in particular by a prat named Dazertyuiop's "1K to a better standard of life" on the general betting section who IMO is going to lose his pot in next to no time with his reckless gambling.
Schiff...A warm welcome from me and I hope you are very successful with betfair. I would certainly recommend you read the above thread as I wouldn't want you to be "gambling" in this manner.
Steve....What was Ronnie's experiment for tonight's game?

It appears to be breaking left handed, most left handed shots in a right handed players 100 break and seeing how easily he can win from 1 frame behind ( i reckon he left the lump on himself at 2.7 for when he lost the first frame :-) )
2-1 up now and ive taken my stake out but not fully greened - this could well be 5-1 the way hes playing
