Pro-EU peer Lord Kerr says UK needs migration because Britons are 'stupid'

By Laura Hughes, Political Correspondent
18 November 2016 • 7:57am

A Europhile peer has provoked outrage after he claimed Britain needs intelligent migrants to come to the UK because "native" Britons are "so bloody stupid".

Peter Lilly:

"They think they are there to rule the country and hugely resent any interference by the electorate."

Keep silent and let people think you are a fool, or open your mouth and prove it comes to mind when I see the comments of people like Kerr. One thing I have learnt in life is that intelligence and education does not equate to common sense. Give me common sense every time.

Article 50 Brexit case will not be appealed to EU court, says Gina Miller - Fri, 18th Nov 2016 10:43

(ShareCast News) - The result of a government appeal against a judicial ruling that it could not trigger Brexit without parliamentary consent will be the last word on the matter, according to the fund manager who first brought the issue to court.

Gina Miller, the fund manager who along with hairdresser Deir Dos Santos challenged the prime minister's prerogative powers to trigger Article 50, the clause which will set a two year clock on negotiations with the EU, said she would not appeal the decision of the Supreme Court to the European Court of Justice.

Miller and Dos Santos won their case against the government on 3 November, when the High Court ruled that parliament needed to be consulted first.

The government has appealed the decision to the Supreme Court with a hearing expected to start on 5 December and ruling made in the new year.

Miller told Bloomberg TV on Friday: "My particular case is a constitutional one in Britain so I would not be" appealing to the European courts "whatever the outcome."

"That's not to say the Supreme Court itself won't say that aspects of Article 50 need to be debated at an international level."

The government has said that it is currently preparing legislation to trigger Article 50, despite the setback from the High Court ruling and May said that it had not disrupted her timetable to trigger the clause by the end of March.

The other legal challenges to Brexit were rejected by the Northern Ireland High Court in October, ruling that the 1998 Good Friday Agreement did not prevent the government from triggering Article 50.

Anyone see that Welsh MP on Question Time trying to justify why he might not vote for Brexit in a commons vote when nearly sixty per cent of his constituents voted out ?

He said he felt morally compelled to do the right thing for the people ... well excuse me but if he really had any morals he should resign.

Fred1new - 19 Nov 2016 12:54 - 5880 of 12628

If a shepherd thinks he sees a flock of sheep going over a cliff I would think he has a moral duty to try to stop them.

Edited, as I didn't understand the first posting.

cynic - 19 Nov 2016 16:50 - 5881 of 12628

certainly bleating at them won't do any good

Dil - 20 Nov 2016 10:52 - 5882 of 12628

And what fecking cliff are you on about Fred ?

The one where we have to have an emergency budget if we vote out ?
The one where foreign companies like Nissan and Google pull out of UK if we vote out ?
The one where the stock market tanks if we pull out ?
The one where unemployment accelerates as soon as we pull out ?
Etc , etc.

Those sheep are off to pastures new after a democratic vote and don't need a fecking shepherd sticking their nose in.

Fred1new - 20 Nov 2016 11:01 - 5883 of 12628

Take your blinkers off and look ahead and then on both sides.

Dil - 20 Nov 2016 11:24 - 5884 of 12628

Did that before I voted Fred as did millions of others. Sooner we press the button the better.

EU is a far worse place to be in rather than out of for the UK. It's the EU who are bleating Fred not the UK.

If they had offered Cammy a half decent deal then Brexit may have been avoided but they fobbed him off.

I hope France follow us out too then the whole un democratic union will really have to give itself a good shake up if it wishes to survive.

In two years time there might not be anyone left to negotiate a single market deal with.

Dil - 20 Nov 2016 11:27 - 5885 of 12628

And what is all the bad news you keep going on about Fred ?

Where and what is it ?

Dailos - 20 Nov 2016 11:46 - 5886 of 12628

Have you been watching KWS? Mr Dil?

grannyboy - 20 Nov 2016 15:40 - 5888 of 12628

IF only they'd except there were other religions, and that they need to be more
tollerant towards those who believe in other gods, but don't hold your breath..

Dil dear boy whilst we may disagree on sport and shares when it comes to Brexit we are as one.

The only sheep involved in this were those who blindly followed the advice of the majority of politicians, economists, business leaders, luvies and pundits and said we must stay or the world would end. O and to add insult to injury they now categories those who voted out as thick, uneducated, old and racist.

These same people lead us into the banking crisis, a record national debt and a nation which has lost site of its identity and values. Shame on them and their acolytes from which ever end of the political spectrum.

I still believe that the UK can make its way in the world unfettered from the dead hand of the EU which as you say is doomed and good riddance.
