Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

The claim that over a million people are using Trussell Trust food banks is inaccurate. It comes from confusing the number of different people using Trussell Trust food banks in a year with the number of times they use the food banks.
The Trussell Trust collect their data from the vouchers used by people referred to their food banks. If one voucher feeds a family of 4 people, that’s 4 instances. If the same family visit again next week, that’s another 4 instances. The Trussell Trust say that on average people needed two food bank vouchers annually, so the number of people using food banks is likely to be around half of the 1.1 million figure.
After being contacted by Full Fact, the Trussell Trust have added a note explaining that “these are not all unique users” to their latest press release but this has not avoided widespread confusion. For example:
The Guardian: “Nearly 1.1 million people received at least three days of emergency food from the trust’s 445 food banks in 2014-15″.
The Daily Mail: “The country’s biggest food bank organisation yesterday claimed the number of people claiming free meal packages from its branches passed a million last year”.
Supply is not the same as demand
The rise in uses of Trussell Trust food banks came with a rise in the number of food banks themselves: from 56 food banks in 2009 to 445 food banks in 2014. This represents a major expansion of the Trust into new areas. The Trust served 29 UK local authorities (£) in 2009 but that number increased to 251 by 2013.
The increase in supply doesn’t necessarily reflect an increased demand for emergency food. There may be people in need of emergency food in the past who wouldn’t have shown up in the Trust’s figures because there was no Trussell Trust food bank nearby.

With the GE just over 2 weeks away I thought the market would be more volatile/nervous than it has been, although there is still time for the indices to plunge on the prospect of Nicola Sturgeon running the UK.

Without wishing to reduce the plight of those having to use food banks, let's not also forget it is in the Trussell Trusts interest to be seen to be well used.

George,
In a perverse kind of way, I think the market is thinking that no outright majority for either party = no contentious laws being passed for 5 years = stability and a maintaining of the status quo. They've seen that the last 5 years of Conservative/Lib Dem government haven't actually been that bad, and they're prepared for more of something similar in whatever guise.
The bookies are pricing Conservatives at 285/286 seats, Labour at 270 seats, Lib Dems at 25/26 seats and the SNP at 49/50 seats, so you'll be looking at centre ground laws being passed, and that's about it. Ed's not gonna get his mansion tax, Cameron's not gonna get his EU referendum, Sturgeon's not gonna get rid of Trident, so what's there to worry about?

Trussell Trust food banks numbers are a good advert for what the UK would be under the Nasty Party, if by a mistake they were elected!
It would show tory party values and why they are the Nasty Party!

Hi Hilary you may well be right, but if Ed & Nic get to govern then numerically, based on the figures quoted above, they would have an advantage which in my view would not result in stability.
