Fundy, I think it really depends on where you are travelling from. Leics. is very central and is easily accessible. Unless you are going on the M1 to London, most travellers will be OK even on a Monday. Your journey from Manchester will take you approx. 1:45 hours, I think, and will be well worth it, I'm sure!

Autoroute states 1:53, Fundy, so what's the major problem here, mate? You're a young sprog with plenty of life and energy and you only live once so just do it! In the grand scheme of things it's ****er all to consider and you will enjoy a great day's ents with like minded people in a happy, friendly environment both on and off the course. So stop whinging and book the day off work NOW!
Alt. you could also travel down on the Sunday and join me and PTH for a courtesy round? B&B's are very cheap in the Midlands. On a one-off Sunday you'll be able to pick 'n choose, I'm sure!

Markus....
a few points:
1) ive done the journey to nottingham a few times in the last 6 mths and its taken anywhere from 3hrs to 5 hrs depending on how bad the traffic is - it is always far worse on mondays!
2) i work for myself from home so no need to book the day off
3) 2 days golf, sun and mon - now youre talking!!!
4) ill still be coming, was just trying to make it easier on both myself and anyone else who has a distance to travel
5) ill have to organise the next one, marriott worsley park sounds good to me!

Bob:
Will add you too the list.
For all:
Have been speaking to and emailing MAM, may be able to do something about sponsorship of the event. Ian T has also suggested bolstering the numbers with MAM corporate clients, which seems like a good idea. Wasn't able to speak to the Club Secretary this afternoon, but will hopefully confirm the 27 June tomorrow morning. Have also started a thread on the Trader's Board in an attempt to drum up some more custom. No success thus far, but will keep trying.

Where is the course anybody give me a postcode? I can see how viable at Monday is and maybe select a late tee time. I will have to go around half the M25 just to get to the M1.

(17 in total thus far)
(If I have missed anyone, please let me know)
The date has been booked for the Monday 27 June (sorry Scrip). I have booked for a full day, which includes 2 rounds of golf, followed by a two course meal. Working on the numbers of entrants, cost will be 46 pounds plus 4 for lunch. So total of 50 quid for the day. If we end up with more than 20 cost will drop to 44 pounds (plus lunch).
Following discussions with MAM, they have kindly agreed to provide a Trophy for the winner and also Medals for second and third places. They will also sponsor the winner and possibly longest drive & closest to the pin (x2) by donating some sort of MAM package / upgrade (details to be confirmed closer to the date).
Format will be a morning 9 hole practise round (possibly Texas Scramble) tee off time 1000(ish); followed by the competition round in the afternoon (probably threesomes). Maximum handicap 24 (75%) and preferably with certificate! All followed by the evening meal. LCGC have a strict dress code and tie and jacket will be required for the meal, (although i will check on that, as the Committee has relaxed the rules for Societies).
Finally, the thorny issue of payment. Obviously the quicker I can collect the money, the more comfortable I will feel. Clearly I do not want to advertise my address on the BB; but with concurence from Ian Tullett, please forward a cheque for 50 pounds to:
I Tullett
MonayAM Ltd
Thames House
18 Park Street
London
SE1 9ER
Made payable to P T HOLDEN.
Ian will forward the cheques to me, I will then scarper with all the dosh!! Seriously though, Ian knows where I live, so I won't be going anywhere.
Hope you are all in agreement. Please let me know when your cheque is on its way.
Regards

The cost allows a full round both morning and afternnon. However, with travelling considerations / time, it may be a problem to start at a reasonable time and finish the day. Although if we allow 3 and a half hours for a round, (threesomes) take lunch at 1330-1430 we could still kick off at 1000. Happy to go with the majority.

Personally I would prefer to play a practise round (full 18 holes) which could be optional depending on when people are arriving from all over the UK followed by lunch and then the Real Deal in the afternoon followed by a mega dinner (evening). A Texas Scramble (with 4) will take a lot more than 3 1/2 hours, Peter!

I don't play golf even though I live near Charthills which is hosting the Ladies Open this year. This is going to be a great day out and well done to PT for coming up with the idea. Can someone take some pic's and post so us non golfers can see what we've missed. Now if anybody wants to organise a shagathon just give me a couple of weeks notice to enable the viagra to kick in.
Have a great day guy's
