required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Stan - 09 Oct 2017 11:27 - 5946 of 6918

Awesome? what in Wales.. you been on the Ribina? 😄

Dil - 09 Oct 2017 12:09 - 5947 of 6918

Yeah well done on qualifying Stan now remind me how you got in Brazil ?

Watched both England games and the way you played makes us look like the 1970 Brazil team in comparison.

Maybe that's why our game is a sell out and Wembley was empty.

Treat yourself Stan to some proper football this evening :-)

Stan - 09 Oct 2017 12:49 - 5948 of 6918

Was only kidding Dil, I wouldn't watch England if you payed me to.

I'm playing myself tonight but should see most of the game after if I can get near a pub that's showing the game.

Volks for Wales and Ward, Hendrick, Brady, Long and Waters (injured) for the Republic, means that I will be supporting the Republic tonight.

Joe Say - 10 Oct 2017 07:29 - 5949 of 6918

Remember how those welsh players were laughing post the Iceland match

Well guess who's laughing now

I only managed to catch the last 35 mins or so but I am led to believe that Burnley Reserves (the Republic for the uninformed) merely played "The Burnley Way" I.E. sat back soaked up the pressure then hit them on the break scored then defended to the final whistle.

Chris Carson - 10 Oct 2017 08:39 - 5951 of 6918

Unlucky Dil, no surprise your hero Ashley Williams :0) failed to stop the cross.

required field - 10 Oct 2017 09:36 - 5952 of 6918

Well...Scotland won't make the expected journey to see the Russia bear and the Welsh dragon has finally been slain and Ireland take the spoils......qualification now depends on the playoff draws with some hefty teams in the pot by the look of it....should be some awesome games.....

VICTIM - 10 Oct 2017 09:47 - 5953 of 6918

Thought the Ref lenient with Ireland but booked Allen , they got away with things resulting in Allen going off , after that they seemed to lose momentum Wales , something I'm sure Ireland knew , also wasted endless corners and freekicks , too close to keeper .Very sorry really for Wales .

Dil - 10 Oct 2017 10:50 - 5954 of 6918

Well there's another World Cup disaster I can add to Scotland 77 Scotland 85 and Romania 93.

Your right Stan that Ireland came and parked the bus and first half made no attempt to attack during the first half which surprised everyone as they had to win this more so than Wales.

Ref booked Allen early on then failed to book 3 Irish players for what looked like worse tackles.

Goal was our own fault and after that the Irish spent more time rolling round the floor as though they'd been shot than playing football.

Wales should have gone 3 at the back after 20 minutes once it was obvious Ireland were offering nothing up front. Woodburn should have started and we brought Vokes on too late and should have left Kanu on with him and taken a defender off.

Was disappointed but not surprised we didn't qualify so good luck to Ireland in Russia next year , had a great laugh in town with their fans before the game.

Joe , Wales losing to Ireland ain't half as funny as England losing to Iceland :-)

Chris Carson - 10 Oct 2017 10:54 - 5955 of 6918

Yeah!!! well who's laughing now Dil, Wales :0)

Dil - 10 Oct 2017 10:56 - 5956 of 6918

Only depressing thing is fecking Coleman hasn't resigned.

We didn't fail to qualify because of last night , we faile to qualify because of Colemans tactics got us 5 draws in our first 6 games. We could and chould have been out of sight before last night.

Dil - 10 Oct 2017 11:44 - 5957 of 6918

Tbh Chris with 4 games to go I was resigned to the fact that by last night we would have nothing to play for so was happy that we at least started the game with the possibility of qualifying.

I can honestly say that by the time we were on our way home I really didn't give two monkeys we were out.

Earlier in the day I had announced my retirement from international matches and even if we had won last night I was going to watch the play offs in the pub.

Was hoping to bow out on a high but Coleman made sure I didn't.

Proper football back on Friday , Cardiff away to Brum live on Sky.

There is a lack of mobility in midfield british football....lack of imagination .....how often do you see players : pretend to shoot the ball...then pull it to the right and left and then shoot....hardly ever...and this has be done in seconds...it's also the lack of guile which is letting us down ......what are they taught at soccer school in the uk ?...needs to be reviewed....

Chris Carson - 11 Oct 2017 10:02 - 5959 of 6918

Aye Dil, sadly Internationals, or Qualifyers re the home nations seem to be irrelevant and a bloody nuisance, as I'm sure apart from Ronald Koeman would agree. :0)

Stan - 11 Oct 2017 10:02 - 5960 of 6918

We've been light years behind Europe in many ways on the sporting scene unfortunately and continue to be so, always playing catch up.

Chris Carson - 11 Oct 2017 10:09 - 5962 of 6918

Sadly true Stan, even though England have qualified we all know they don't stand a cat in hell's chance of winning it. Depressing!

required field - 11 Oct 2017 10:19 - 5963 of 6918

As it is quarter finals at the most....unless there is a dramatic play improvement....

Stan - 11 Oct 2017 10:21 - 5964 of 6918

Yep, par for the course.

Dil - 11 Oct 2017 10:55 - 5965 of 6918

Pity you can't borrow Bale and Ramsey .... or lend us 9 players :-)
