THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Cameron is way ahead in popularity compared to the other choices. Cameron looks like easily winning the most seats. Labour is being comprehensively rejected in Scotland. The net result is that the public clearly want Cameron to be PM. It looks like they will get exactly that.

Stan - 05 May 2015 11:31 - 59628 of 81564

More nonsence from the good for nothing Tory party EL.

... I suppose the next waste of time news from this "Con" party government will be that they will be bringing back the "Cones Hot Line" that soppy Major wasted money on in the 90's !

Haystack - 05 May 2015 11:38 - 59629 of 81564

The only hope for the Labour party long term in Scotland is to break away. They need to form a Scottish Labour party as happened in NI.

Stan - 05 May 2015 11:44 - 59630 of 81564

That's qiute irelevent yet again H/S.

Haystack - 05 May 2015 12:00 - 59631 of 81564

Not really. It shows that Labour have a long term problem in the rest of the UK. They are going to need huge swings to get elected in the future without Scotland.

The removal of the paper included element of the driving licence has to be a plus.

The ability for both drivers, car rental agencies and any other relevant parties, to be able to refer to a 'slap bang up to date' web site for their information, has definitely got to be a plus.

And it is going to save money in paper printing costs too.

So why are you knocking it, Stan?

For instance, have you checked if your own Driving Licence details are correct? This web site at least gives you that opportunity to do so, doesn't it?

ExecLine - 05 May 2015 12:27 - 59633 of 81564

I've just checked my own DL details and they are correct.

Interestingly, on this site the Identity verification section for your DL number is linked with your National Insurance number. This in turn allows a note to be produced on the site concerning your eyesight and whether it needs assistance or not to be able to drive (ie. Do you assist with or need/wear prescription glasses?)

So the site allows a check on your ID, your Driving Licence, and your Nat Insurance Number. This card could therefore be used by NHS patients when they present to ascertain whether they qualify for FREE medical treatment.

Also, the site allows people to sign up for Organ Donation and link this with the Nat. Ins. number too.

All very neat and efficient, eh?

Stan - 05 May 2015 12:34 - 59634 of 81564

I have no reason to qeustion my details or ever will, just like the vast majority of drivers, it's just another wast of time and money by an outfit trying to give the impresssion of doing something.

Fred1new - 05 May 2015 12:55 - 59635 of 81564

Haze,

The tory party has become identified and the party of UNTOUCHABLES.

Nobody seems to want to touch them, leave alone form a coalition with them. Not even the Lib/Dems.

Cameron won't command a majority in the HP on any policies, Queen's speech if not left of centre will sink.

Won't be able to have an in/out referendum on the EU.

Cameron will be more of a pillock after the election than he is now.

More hypocrisy from Labour

Exclusive from Tom Newton Dunn in The Sun

Labour's election centrepiece hypocrisy. Labour are not paying their security guards the Living Wage of £7.85 an hour, despite Ed Miliband's crackdown on firms not paying the Living Wage.

if lab win the election thousands of pensioners will die they will not afford to live
min wage £320 a week pension £115 a week single pensioners will be the worst hit
the old will die in their thousands for lack of food and heating
just look at the facts

Haystack - 05 May 2015 13:24 - 59638 of 81564

The lefties would have you believe that everyone hates the Tories. This is patently untrue. The Polling figures show that around 33% want the Conservatives as a government. Coincidentally, it is the same figure as Labour. Essentially, the Conservatives are just as popular as Labour. In fact, as the Conservatives always do better in the actual election that the polls, you could say that the Conservatives are more popular than Labour.

OK H/S, what do you know about the descracefull things that went on at Dolphin Square?

Haystack - 05 May 2015 14:17 - 59641 of 81564

I doubt that hardly anyone knows much about it, I certainly don't. Dolphin Square is an odd place. It is not a square in the conventional sense. It is just a really large block of flats with hundreds of people living there. I lived next to it in St George's Sq, which is a normal square with a private garden in the middle. There is a nursery there, where Di worked as a nursery nurse prior to marriage. I used to drink in the bar and pub in DS and knew some of the people who lived there. They were mostly ordinary people. You have to remember that DS is owned by Westminster Council and is technically council flats. That means they are available to anyone who lives and/or works in the borough. That means a lot of the flats are used by MPs. I remember that David Steele lived in one. I don't know anything about the serious criminal goings on there, although I do know of plenty of more normal things happening involving MPs of all the parties. DS is a self contained community, with its own shops, pub, bar, restaurant, swimming pool, squash courts etc. There are probably several thousand people living there at any one time. It is like a small town.

Market is relatively sanguine considering the SNP will dictate policy in the UK if Labour get in by the back door.
