THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

More hypocrisy from Labour

Exclusive from Tom Newton Dunn in The Sun

Labour's election centrepiece hypocrisy. Labour are not paying their security guards the Living Wage of £7.85 an hour, despite Ed Miliband's crackdown on firms not paying the Living Wage.

The lefties would have you believe that everyone hates the Tories. This is patently untrue. The Polling figures show that around 33% want the Conservatives as a government. Coincidentally, it is the same figure as Labour. Essentially, the Conservatives are just as popular as Labour. In fact, as the Conservatives always do better in the actual election that the polls, you could say that the Conservatives are more popular than Labour.

OK H/S, what do you know about the descracefull things that went on at Dolphin Square?

Haystack - 05 May 2015 14:17 - 59641 of 81564

I doubt that hardly anyone knows much about it, I certainly don't. Dolphin Square is an odd place. It is not a square in the conventional sense. It is just a really large block of flats with hundreds of people living there. I lived next to it in St George's Sq, which is a normal square with a private garden in the middle. There is a nursery there, where Di worked as a nursery nurse prior to marriage. I used to drink in the bar and pub in DS and knew some of the people who lived there. They were mostly ordinary people. You have to remember that DS is owned by Westminster Council and is technically council flats. That means they are available to anyone who lives and/or works in the borough. That means a lot of the flats are used by MPs. I remember that David Steele lived in one. I don't know anything about the serious criminal goings on there, although I do know of plenty of more normal things happening involving MPs of all the parties. DS is a self contained community, with its own shops, pub, bar, restaurant, swimming pool, squash courts etc. There are probably several thousand people living there at any one time. It is like a small town.

Market is relatively sanguine considering the SNP will dictate policy in the UK if Labour get in by the back door.

Pub must be rebuilt brick by brick, orders council, after developers tore it down to build flats

The owners of a historic London pub who triggered outrage by demolishing it without permission are to be ordered to rebuild it brick by brick.

Council chiefs will next week issue an unprecedented enforcement notice to the firm that owns the Carlton Tavern in Maida Vale requiring it to “recreate in facsimile the building as it stood immediately prior to its demolition”.

The owners, Tel Aviv-based developers CLTX Ltd, ordered bulldozers in to reduce the early 1920s building to rubble earlier this month after staff were told to stay at home for an inventory.
