THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Max,

If you look again at your glass, you'll see it's actually half full rather than half empty.

jimmy b - 08 May 2015 09:28 - 59868 of 81564

MaxK , we will get a referendum and hopefully vote out of Europe .

How about that Fred a Tory gov and shut the door on immigration ,couldn't be better.

hilary - 08 May 2015 09:30 - 59869 of 81564

Jimmy,

You'll get your referendum, but the UK won't vote to leave the EU.

Fred1new - 08 May 2015 09:32 - 59870 of 81564

JB.

I will watch.

I think tory ride will be rougher than you expect.

MaxK - 08 May 2015 09:33 - 59871 of 81564

No half full glass hilly, simply realism.

jimmy b - 08 May 2015 09:37 - 59872 of 81564

Fred it would have been chaos if Labour had won ..

hilary i wouldn't be too sure about that ,there are a huge amount of people fed up with the EU.

cynic - 08 May 2015 09:40 - 59873 of 81564

i agree with hilary
but whatever the result, at least we'll all be able to have a say on it

jimmy b - 08 May 2015 09:41 - 59874 of 81564

And no one thought Cameron would win today either .

cynic - 08 May 2015 09:58 - 59877 of 81564

did farage get in?

jimmy b - 08 May 2015 10:03 - 59878 of 81564

Still waiting ..

2517GEORGE - 08 May 2015 10:03 - 59879 of 81564

Well what a result with just a few more to come it's clearly been a very good night for the Tories and terrible for both Lib Dems amd Labour, and whilst the SNP have taken over Scotland they won't be too happy re the Tories.

Dodgy Dave's referendum promises.

Mind he lied before on previous treaties and will do so again.

He has also made false promises leading up to this election.

1) renegotiations of EU "contracts"

2) referendum by 2017

3) hoping, or demanding that the EU will negotiate at Cameron's required speed. They won't and although the majority would prefer UK to remain in the EU, my guess they won't accept Cameron's bluster and bullying. (As of previous.)

"Appearing on BBC1’s The Andrew Marr Show, Mr Cameron said: “The referendum must take place before the end of 2017. If we could do that earlier, I would be delighted,” he said. “The sooner I can deliver on that the better.”

He wishes to stay in EU.

Many tories want to stay in the Union.

Votes in parliament may be a problem.

-===---=-

The little englanders may huff and puff, but Scotland will be a problem and as they seem to wish to stay in the EU., it will stimulate them to bring forward a demand for
a referendum on dissolution of Scotland.

-=-=-=

What effects the above will have on the economy I can only guess, but sold my SB longs at about 8.15am and will watch the market for a few days before consequences are realised.

May be wrong!

MaxK - 08 May 2015 10:09 - 59882 of 81564

required field - 08 May 2015 10:10 - 59883 of 81564

Fred.....you're obsessed....anyway it's not yet official....5 more seats needed....I reckon the pound should firm on this....

required field - 08 May 2015 10:11 - 59884 of 81564

One thing is for sure : the UK will have to listen to Scotland and their views.....only fair....

cynic - 08 May 2015 10:11 - 59885 of 81564

don't get too carried away for this will be just a very slim majority notwithstanding that SF just sit in their corner in belfast and sulk

i shall certainly be very sad indeed if the tories (continue to) ignore the low(er) earners in the economy
raising taxable allowances is one thing, but if you are already barely in that band, it won't help much and if below it, then not at all

peripheral benefits such as housing go some way to cushion, but these are already tight and will almost certainly be made tighter

i don't know how much difference to the exchequer 5p makes on marginal tax rates, but probably not a great deal
