Leisure & Gaming said current trading is weaker than expected and it therefore now expects results for the full year to be below market forecasts.

The warning came alongside results for the first half to end-June which showed the online betting and gaming group swinging to a profit before tax of $6.8m, up from a pro forma loss of $0.2m.

Turnover was $339.9m, up 33% from the pro forma figure of $254.7m for 2005.

CEO, Alistair Assheton, said the results for the half year are very pleasing showing continued growth across the business.

He said the recently acquired European business in particular is showing encouraging signs and following this acquisition, the group has growing revenue streams from an increasing number of sources.

'We have a strong cash balance and a solid business model and remain well placed to capitalise on opportunities for growth in the coming periods.'

The first half is traditionally the slower half of the year and Assheton said it is disappointing however, that the performance as the group enters the main sportsbook trading season has been weaker than expectations.
