In Asia today, the Hang Seng ended the morning down 396.93 points at 20,196.48, while the Nikkei closed the day up 117.12 points at 17,621.45.

New York's main oil futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in March, climbed 6 cents to $57.87 a barrel after falling by $2.08 to settle at $57.81 per barrel in US trading.
