Dori Media cleaning up in soaps - BUY

Companies: DMG

Soaps (of the TV variety) are something you either love or hate. But if you think EastEnders is down-market, you should try the telenovelas popular with teenagers in Latin America. Fortunately for Dori Media, it looks as if much of Asia and Eastern Europe is catching the telenovela bug, too.

Dori is an Israeli company traded on AIM, which produces, distributes, broadcasts and merchandises telenovelas and has long operated its own soap channel in Israel. International sales, however, are the growth area. Last year, broadcasting and format rights sales doubled, and international sales accounted for nearly three-quarters of the total (up 46 per cent from the previous year).

Dori launched its own channel in Indonesia (Televiva Vision 2) and achieved breakthrough sales in Spain, Germany and Eastern Europe. With turnover now split roughly equally between Israel, Latin America and Europe, Dori can rightly claim that telenovelas have become a global market.

The stock market has woken up to Dori and the shares have been among the strongest performers on AIM over recent weeks but at the current 177.5p, there is certainly further to go with Dori still trading at a discount to the TV production sector when many would argue they should be trading at a premium.

Dori has a library of 3,500 hours of telenovelas and added around 800 hours in 2006. Reporting in dollars, it trebled profits last year to $5.1 million (2.75 million) and it looks like lifting the total by at least $2 million (1 million) in 2007 as launch losses in Indonesia fall away. That would throw up earnings of between 15p and 16p per share, valuing the business on a forward p/e of no more than 11.8 times earnings a substantial discount to competitors. The shares could add a further 50 per cent and still not look pricey in comparison with most of the other independent quoted TV production companies.

Dori is likely to expand its own broadcasting operations with the launch of new channels in Europe and Asia over the next couple of years. That will doubtless restrain profits growth. The Indonesian channel lost $1.5 million (750,000) in its first year but the City is likely to take that into account and look at the underlying numbers. Dori is an exceptional growth stock in an attractive sector and the shares are a buy.

Broker comment:-

Dori Media - BUY

Price: 153p Target price: 253p Code: DMG.L Analyst: James Hollins | 020 7776 6571

Significant contract win, target upgrade

* Dori Media has announced that it has set up a new subsidiary, Dori Media Spike, to operate TV channels for Israels largest multi-channel platform, HOT. This is a substantial contract win and we are upgrading our FY08 forecasts and increasing our target price from 230p to 253p (65% potential upside).
* Dori Media Spike is 75% owned by Dori Media (remainder owned by Spike 2 K Communications) and will produce and operate HOTs premium movie channels as well as other new and existing channels. HOT has a c.64% market share in Israel and is the sole Israeli cable operator.
* This agreement should dramatically increase Doris profile, providing direct access to the Hollywood studios, as well as enhancing cross-sell opportunities, notably into Doris dubbing and subtitling subsidiary.
* The three-year agreement should drive estimated total sales of between $52.5m and $67.5m ($17.5-22.5m annually).
* The contract is scheduled to commence on 1 January 2008 and we are therefore increasing our FY08 group revenue forecast by 50% (+$20.0m) from $40.3m to $60.3m.
* The new business is lower margin, but is forecast to increase group PBT in FY08 by 18% ($11.2m vs $9.5m). We are increasing our FY08 earnings estimate from 37.7c to 44.5c (+18%).
* On this basis, the shares are standing at 10.0x FY07E and 6.9x FY08E. This materially undervalues the groups existing operations, as well as the strength of the three-year contract win announced this morning.
* We are upgrading our price target from 230p to 253p (+10%, target multiple of 11.4x FY08E) and retain our Buy recommendation.

Better description of DMG as below :

Dori Media Group (DMG) operates in the international media and television market, producing and distributing TV series focusing on telenovelas, owning and operating television channels, and selling related merchandise.

DMG produces telenovelas in Latin America and in Israel, distributes its telenovelas in more than 50 countries, owns and operates three TV channels dedicated to telenovelas two in Israel and one in Indonesia and creates merchandising and ancillary business for telenovela series. In addition, DMG owns a growing library of telenovela series, totaling over 3,500 TV hours.

The telenovela is a serialized, fictional melodrama format for television, generally between 120 to 320 episodes of six to 15 months duration before reaching a climactic close. Although part of Latin American television culture, the telenovela format is successfully exported to many countries and is very popular with local audiences. The genre is particularly popular with children and youth audiences and provides many opportunities for merchandising and other complementary business.

DMG operates from offices in Israel, Switzerland, Argentina, the Philippines and Singapore.

Israel : VIVA, DMG's main television channel in Israel, is the fifth most popular television channel in Israel, according to actual viewing audience share and total rating. According to the same criteria, it is also the second most popular among all cable and satellite channels available in Israel. Viva's weekend supplement pay channel, "Viva Platina," is enjoying growing popularity as part of cable and satellite entertainment packages.

Darset (50%-held) produces locally originated telenovela and drama series sold to Israeli television channels and to an Israeli television channel in the US. Darset produces only presold telenovelas. Darset's telenovelas are distributed worldwide by Dori Media Distribution GmbH, DMG's distribution arm.

Worldwide : DMG produces telenovelas and purchases worldwide rights to two main categories of telenovelas from a number of Argentinian-based production houses: those aimed at mixed audiences and those aimed at youth and children audiences. To date, DMG has acquired rights to 17 telenovela titles, comprising approximately 2,700 episodes that have been sold to TV stations in 50 countries worldwide. Broadcasting rights are sold by DMG separately to free-to-air and to subscription-based television services. In addition, DMG owns and operates Televiva Vision2, a telenovela dedicated TV channel in Indonesia via Indovisions DBS platform. In April 2006, DMG began broadcasting Baby TV Vision 3 on Indovision.

In June 2006, Dori Media launched its 100%-owned international distribution arm, Dori Media Distribution GmbH (DMD), giving the company complete global control over its sales chain.

In November, 2006, driven by the growing need to adapt video content to local languages, Dori Media established a joint venture with OT studios, an audio and video translation, dubbing, subtitling and duplication company. The jointly owned company, DMO (51%-held), focuses on the synchronizing, subtitling and duplication activities of DMG and other clients both locally and worldwide.

Dori Media - BUY

Positive interims

Dori has reported H1 sales growth of 32% ($12.7m vs $9.7m), driven largely by a 92.8% rise in merchandise sales relating to the broadcast of its hugely popular Rebelde Telenovela in the US, Mexico and Brazil.

An improved gross margin (72.5% vs 69.9%) was offset by higher merchandise commissions. However, group EBITDA rose from $4.1m to $4.4m (+8%), with PBT up from $2.1m to $2.4m.

Dori has carried out a number of important strategic initiatives over the past six months that should drive exceptional long-term growth.
One, it has announced a partnership with YouTube for the delivery of three branded Telenovela channels. Two, it has set up a new subsidiary to operate TV channels for Israels largest multi-channel platform. Three, it has established a US subsidiary to monetise the fast-growing interest in its content in the US.

We are currently forecasting FY07E EBITDA growth of 29.4% (to $11.2m), driven by lower merchandise commission costs relative to H1, and higher sales of broadcasting rights. We are leaving our FY07E EPS estimate unchanged (28.84c) and, based on a current P/E of just 11.4x (7.9x FY08E), we retain our Buy stance and 253p price target.

DORI MEDIA GROUP 5th October 2007

Dori Media Group ('DMG' or 'the Group'), the international media company active
in the field of television, with a focus on production, distribution,
broadcasting and merchandising of Telenovela, today announced that the Company
has signed two deals amounting to a combined US$2.2 million, with additional
contractual options potentially increasing the value of the deals to US$4.3
million to broadcast 'LaLola' and Patito Feo ('Ugly Duckling').

The deals were completed by DMG's fully owned Swiss subsidiaries, Dori Media
International GmbH ('DMI') and Dori Media Distribution GmbH ('DMD'). 'LaLola', a Dori Media Group production, has been sold as a format to a major TV network in Spain, for it to be locally produced and aired. 'LaLola' was recently aired in Argentina for the first time, where the show is already a hit having been
declared the most highly rated show on Channel 'America', even raising the
channel's overall average rating (Source: IBOPE). 'Lalola' has also been
launched in Chile where its audience rating has once again been extremely high.
Over 1,522 hours of 'LaLola' has so far been sold to more than 11 broadcasters
and producers from France, Russia, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay, Chile and others. In addition to this, rights to broadcast 'Patito Feo', the new teen Telenovela,
have been sold to a French TV broadcaster. The show will appear in its original
format, but will be dubbed into French. Further contractual options are
available to the network that will give it the rights to broadcast a greater
number of episodes and additionally to produce and air the local French version
in France, which will raise the combined amount of these two deals to US$4.3
million.

Nadav Palti, President and CEO of Dori Media Group, commented: 'We are delighted to announce these two very important agreements. These deals provide further evidence of both the growing appetite for Telenovelas among the more
sophisticated European TV audience and the strength of Dori Media's telenovela
programming. We firmly believe that Telenovela is a truly global phenomenon and
we remain focused on producing shows that local audiences from around the world
will be able to enjoy'.

Dori Media - BUY

Immense success of Youtube partnership

Dori Media has announced the launch of a fourth telenovela-dedicated site on Youtube. This follows the immense success of its first three pioneering partner channels on Youtube.

Dori was the first media company to offer telenovela channels in partnership with Youtube (launching www.youtube.com/telenovela,www.youtube.com/rebelde and www.youtube.com/nataliaoreiro in August 2007) and is now offering unique content via its fourth channel, www.youtube.com/elrefugio.

We concur with the managements view that these have been immensely successful. The sites have attracted >5m viewings since launch, with a reported 100k additional viewing every day.

As highlighted in our recent note (Delivering Material Growth, 166p, Buy, target price 278p), the strength of Doris owned content and ability to attract consumers to its content via the internet validates its strategy and investment in targeting multi-platform content delivery. It is clearly building substantial momentum and a broad database of consumers seeking telenovela content.

We expect the group to fully monetise the strength of demand witnessed on the Youtube sites (currently not revenue-generating) in FY08E and beyond.
Dori has an exceptional opportunity to drive substantial demand and earnings from its global telenovela production and distribution platform.

Following todays announcement we retain our profit forecasts (PBT $7.7m FY07E, $11.1m FY08E), but edge back our EPS estimates to reflect the share placing announced yesterday (4.2m raising, partly to fund its burgeoning internet strategy).

The shares are currently trading at just 12.0x FY07E (28.41c) and 9.2x FY08E (36.97c) and we retain our Buy recommendation and 278p price target.

DORI MEDIA GROUP

Dori Media Group ('DMG'), the international media company active in the field of television, with a focus on production, distribution, broadcasting and
merchandising of Telenovela, today announced that, only a month after its
participation in the MIPCOM audiovisual content market in Cannes (France), the
Company has sold over 2,301 hours of its Telenovela series and formats to
broadcasters from 11 countries. The deals, which were completed by DMG's fully
owned Swiss subsidiaries, Dori Media International GmbH ('DMI') and Dori Media
Distribution GmbH ('DMD'), are expected to generate total combined sales of
US$3.7 million with the potential total rising to US$6.6 million if further
options for the additional sale of more hours are exercised in the final
agreements. All of these deals have been closed at MIPCOM, however further sales are expected to be generated from the event following the conclusion of several on-going negotiations before the end of the year.

MIPCOM, an audiovisual content market event in Cannes, France, is one of the
world's largest television festivals for industry professionals from around the
globe. Dori Media once again participated in the event in October and was
provided with a unique opportunity to present to industry professionals its
4,000 TV hour library of Telenovelas.

Amongst others, Dori Media series sold at MIPCOM include: 'LaLola', 'Patito
Feo', 'Sos Mi Vida', 'Rebelde Way', 'Juanita, la Soltera' and 'The Champion'.

Nadav Palti, President and CEO of Dori Media Group, commented: 'The strength of
our Telenovela programming guaranteed another successful participation at
MIPCOM. There was high demand from TV buyers and producers from all continents
around the world for our Telenovelas at the show, with new hits like 'Lalola'
and 'Patito Feo' and more established ones such as 'Sos Mi Vida' and 'Rebelde
Way' continuing to sell very well, both in their original formats and in
flexible formats, for adaptation to local market places. Dori Media Group
continues to be an essential partner for TV channels looking to broadcast
Telenovelas and their formats on their own TV networks.'

Extremely positive MIPCOM sales

Dori Media has announced exceptionally positive immediate sales from its participation at MIPCOM in Cannes (global audiovisual content market).
The group has reported the sale of >2,300 hours of its telenovela series and formats to worldwide producers and broadcasters from 11 countries.
This equates to initial revenue of $3.7m, although Dori estimates that this could increase to $6.6m if further options are taken up within the agreements.

These figures compare to sales of 1,760 hours at MIPCOM in 2006 (annual growth of 31%), resulting in initial sales growth of 88% ($3.7m vs $2.0m), suggesting higher yield per hour sold.

The figures announced this morning reflect a significant uplift from the same event last year, demonstrating the strength of Doris telenovela catalogue, as well as the industry excitement around its new titles (such as LaLola and Patito Feo).

Ongoing sales of series and formats from older telenovelas (Sos Mi Vida, Rebelde Way etc) reflect the growing international demand for telenovelas and highlight the attractive recurring and high margin revenues from Doris catalogue (currently >4,00 hours of telenovelas).

The initial sales ($3.7m) are broadly reflected in our existing forecasts (growth in FY08E TV rights revenue of 39.9%), although any additional sales may result in an increase to our estimates.

With risks on the upside, we retain our Buy recommendation and 278p price target (shares currently trading at 11.9x FY07E EPS, falling to 9.1x FY08E; EV/EBITDA to FY07E of 6.4x, FY08E 3.8x).

We also highlight our realistic bull case scenario that drives a target valuation of 400p (see note Driving Material Growth, 1 October 2007, Buy).

Nice update today :

DORI MEDIA GROUP

DORI MEDIA EXPECTS TO REPORT 2007 RESULTS ABOVE MARKET EXPECTATIONS ON THE BACK
OF STRONG SALES AND POSITIVE DEVELOPMENTS

Dori Media Group ('Dori Media' or 'DMG'), the international media company active in the field of television, with a focus on production, distribution,
broadcasting and merchandising of Telenovela, is pleased to update the market on its performance for the year ended 31 December 2007, in advance of the
announcement of its preliminary results on February 21, 2008.

The Directors are expecting to report a strong set of preliminary results for
the year ended 31 December 2007, around 10% ahead of current market
expectations. Dori Media's revenues have been strengthened by a very successful
participation at the MIPCOM audiovisual content market in Cannes (France) where, as reported in December, DMG closed deals worth more than US$6.3 million with the potential total rising to US$9.9 million if further contractual options are exercised.

Other positive developments include Dori Media's acquisition of a 50% stake in
Dori Media Central Studios (formerly Central Park Productions) in Buenos Aires,
which guaranteed DMG precious production time at one of the busiest studios in
the city and enabled Dori Media Central Studios to secure a US$3.6 million three year deal to let one of their three television studios to Ideas Del Sur.

Dori Media would also like to report a very promising start to Dori Media
Spike's agreement with 'HOT', the biggest multi channel platform in Israel, to
run their movie and general entertainment channels. DMG won an RFP to run 'Hot'
in July 2007 with revenues expected to reach between US$52.5 million and US$67.5 million over the initial 3 year contract. The income generated from this agreement will not appear on DMG's 2007 preliminary results as the deal
commenced on January 1st 2008.

Nadav Palti, President and CEO of Dori Media Group, commented: '2007 was a very
successful year for Dori Media and our preliminary results will reflect this.
The launch of our latest Telenovela 'LaLola' was a particular highlight having
been sold to 24 countries in less than six months.

'We are very confident about the Group's prospects for 2008, particularly as
there is a growing appetite for Telenovelas among the Western European TV
audience. We also look forward to the contribution of Dori Media Paran and Dori
Media Darset to our success in 2008 following their promising start to the
year'.
