Nothing Ventured vs Fastrade (NV)

guysands - 20 Oct 2003 12:51

Arrrggggghhh!

Help! Anyone out there a previous Nothing Ventured user? They've sold out to Fastrade and we've all been moved over to that site.

What a mess - this Fastrade site is crap. I'm so pissed off I can hardly type this message. NV was such a brilliant trading tool and now we've got this. What the hell are they playing at. Couldn't those numbskulls at Charlse Stanley see that the NV site was much superior to their own and use that instead and just stick their Fastrade badge onto it.

Any ex-NV users please let me know what your thoughts are today.

I intend to email this thread to Fastrade at the end of the day to let them know what we think - so please write down all you can about what you think of Fastrade.

Maybe, just maybe we can convince them to use the NV platform instead of of this junk, although it is a long shot and we will probably end up leaving in search of a better service.

In that respect please give recommendatios of other services you may have found which you feel are as good as NV.

LIST OF THOSE WISHING TO LEAVE FASTRADE:

Doesn't matter whether you're selling or not - if you post the same message to multiple threads you're thread-spamming - and all you achieve is to get people annoyed with you.

See - annoying reading the same thing over and over again, isn't it?

Tradman - 20 Oct 2003 17:53 - 11 of 39

GUYSANDS - I agree! Fastrade is not a patch on NV.
Ample (http://www.iii.co.uk) isn't bad - 10 flat fee for dealing UK stocks and no account fees. I've not used it yet but it looks like a cheaper alternative.

seawatcher - 20 Oct 2003 18:38 - 12 of 39

I agree - it's a totally hopeless site today. Maybe it will improve but NV were super. Come on somebody - where can we go from here. Let's hope that the FasTrade site is not going to be the best alternative to NV.
I am deeply unhappy.

Tradman and seawatcher,

Join us over on ADVFN free BB site.

I've started a thread over there as I was getting bad vibes from dimwits like zzaxx over here (no such problems on a decent BB like ADVFN).

I will send you the link.

When you read all the posts over there (over 100 of them) you'll understand the gravity of the problem and that you are not alone in your dismay.

Your comments would be greatly appreciated as we are currently bombarding the big wigs at Durlacher and Charles Stanley (parent companies) with emails of discontent.

follow this link:

you may have to subscribe to get in but it's free much like this one.

If you have any problems then just go to advfn.com, subscribe and look for the thread unfer the epic NV.

See you there!

re: no such problem

There was a complaint made about you (not by me, FWIW) thread-spamming on ADVFN as well. When you do things that get annoy people, surprisingly you don't get a terribly positive response from them.

Wouldn't a non-dimwit have looked at the fastrade site before converting and made a decision about whether to go there or somewhere else?

Been through the same thing myself with DLJdirect - was offered TDWatercloset as a destination, but fortunately, as I'm not a complete dimwit, I decided not to take the default and went to a much better site - in my case, ComDirect, though iDealing look pretty good, and many people seem to like E*Trade now.

Used Fastrade 4 years ago - I thought it was utter shite then, though it has allegedly got better.

I'm so fed up I'm considering starting a follow up site, the competition seems dire. Anyone interested?

Tookeybr - 23 Oct 2003 10:34 - 17 of 39

I used NV for three years and wqas easily the best information site on the web- had a few limitations but the presentation was superb. I am deeply unhappy and laternatives are not anywhere near as good, moneyam and advfn about best alterantes

guysands - 23 Oct 2003 14:50 - 18 of 39

Know how you feel Tookeybr.

I have felt deeply unhappy this week. NV going has been a true loss.

Sutre - 23 Oct 2003 15:49 - 19 of 39

JRM

Yes, I could be.

Bullshare - 23 Oct 2003 17:14 - 20 of 39

We always have a listening ear here on MoneyAM so what features are you missing and maybe we can help plug some gaps.

Mike

PS If you want to do this offline just email me: mike@moneyam.com

Not sure guy will look in much more after he was "literally hounded with complaints to the extent that [he] gave up there!".

On a thread with 18 posts.

Sensitive soul, eh?

As far as I can make out amongst the wildly over-the-top ranting, on the advfn thread that he's mostly decamped to, most of the N-V users want to have everything from one site - prices, research, news, trading, portfolio, alerts, watchlists etc.

Why this all has to be from one site, I have no idea - the combination of an online broker, plus this place or advfn would fulfil 99.9% of their needs, IMHO.

hamlins - 23 Oct 2003 19:28 - 22 of 39

The reason for having all under one site is to save on the cost.At NV charges were 19.95 for quarter / 9.95 for any size trades / Super streaming (the best) not only for your fantasy list but also 100 FTSE companies (moneyam charges 50 a month for this service)and the whole list of winners & lossers of the day.Email alerts on any of your watch list alerts with any breaking news, not just the prices. They also had an excellent selection of panelist giving their market views.Let me tell you this mentioned features were just the toppings. You had to be subscribing to have appreciated the excellence of NV.By the way l'm also one of the disgruntled client of NV and to clarify ,things happened to fast for us to have had an opportunity to shop around and also fastrade don't allow you to try their site unless you subscibe(not free like moneyam). One would have thought that fastrade would have been on par with NV to have bought it in the first place!!!
Anyway l have already taken up the offer of share magazine 99 for 12 issues and free moneyam premium service for a year.I only have to find execution only broker now and l'll be reed of fastrade.

Thanks Mike,

I am pasting a copy of your message over on ADVFN for others to see.

guysands - 23 Oct 2003 21:57 - 25 of 39

zzaxx-

you are a very strange creature who sees things in a most unusual way.

as you have got nothing to do with this issue why don't you go and play somewhere else instead.

maybe you should get out more and try to make some friends. I think some company would do you good.

this thread was started for serious reasons. it might seem like fun and games to you, but there are many investors and day traders who have been seriously impacted by this Fastrade balls-up.
