Motion Media-future golden Nugget-only for a short term (MMD)

SUJEEVANN - 03 Nov 2003 22:55

I mentioned about this tiddler 2 weeks back-Good news are following after a long silence-It is a definite money maker-Get on the Band Wagon before its too late???????????

Andy - 04 Nov 2003 12:13 - 6 of 19

ricardo,

there's a first time for everything!

Actually, MMD has been ramped so much on another BB, that it wouldn't surrise me if the FSA cut their teeth on that one!

A chart of MMD, 3 year, to illustrate the potential risk with this share, although it has to be said it COULD recover, (but would need to produce some stunning deals to do so), and Motion Media will probably have to come back to the market to raise further funds soon, diluting existing shareholders further.

How about this bit of potentially bad news for MMD. Read it carefully! Especially note the fourth paragraph.

UK Approves 3G Broadband Patent
21st November, 2003

Viseon.jpg

Europe : Viseon, Inc. announced that its European Patent, granted on June 4, 2003, EP 0780044, has been accepted by the United Kingdom patent office and is in full force and effect as of November 14, 2003. The patent pertains to interactive video communications over broadband networks.

The patent application was originally filed in 1995 along with patent applications in 16 other European countries.

John Harris, Viseon's president and CEO commented, "After eight long years awaiting the issuance of this prescient patent, video communication devices have evolved directly into the scope of our claims. Corporate video system deployments are growing, but the significant unit volumes for video telephony in the UK are now in the 3G wireless market. We anticipate that Hutchison Whampoa, NEC, Motorola and other 3G handset providers will be reviewing our patent claims carefully."

Companies currently selling corporate video communications devices within the UK, which may also have an interest in reviewing the Viseon patent claims, include Polycom, Tandberg, Sony, VCON, Aethra and Motion Media.

About Viseon

Viseon has been developing, manufacturing and patenting video communication technologies for use by corporations, universities and government agencies since 1994. Its products have been sold under various brand names around the world including Philips, Canon, VTEL and Gentner. Viseon recently announced a strategy to deliver TV-quality broadband videophones, the VisiFone, to consumers and businesses directly and through relationships with broadband providers. Viseon currently owns U.S. patent numbers 5,802,281, 6,073,192, 6,397,275 and number 6,519,662. Viseon has also been notified of the allowance of additional patents in Europe and the U.S. and has additional patents pending.

About The VisiFone

The VisiFone(TM) is the world's first low-cost broadband videophone. It is a self-contained system that does not require a PC or any external equipment. The VisiFone operates on any broadband connection and home or office network including high-speed Internet connections via DSL or cable modem. The VisiFone is H.323 or SIP compliant and delivers up to 30 frames per second video and crisp audio quality utilizing 128k to 512k of bandwidth. It is compatible with virtually all corporate video conferencing systems, yet at $599, the VisiFone can be used by the over 20 million broadband connected U.S. homes.

Up today on a high volume - anyone know why?

Andy - 19 Jan 2004 18:08 - 9 of 19

neil,

Rumours of a deal with US military according to another site.

It may be rubbish, but the market clearly thinks somethings afoot.

I nearly bought some this morning, but topped up a couple of other holdings instead, and they rose in price too!

iii post
A cable-USO connection?
Although the videophone vendors are doing whatever they can to win the attention and adoration of the MSO community, a small band of cable folks are already working the military channels as part of a USO-led effort to drum up broad interest in the category.

The USO Videophone (USOVP) initiative aims to use the technology– along with broadband hookups–to connect troops in the field with their family and loved ones back home.

By design, the initiative would be responsible for the installation of videophones and kiosks at domestic and international USO facilities and at local cable operator lobbies and customer service centers. USOVP would also supply the devices to military installations around the world.

From there, troops and their families would book their videophone reservations through a Web-based system designed to automatically calculate the time differences between the parties.

Three cable industry vets presently are managing the USOVP effort gratis: Rick Jubeck, national sales manager for Lemco Tool; William Riker, the current CTO of The Cable Center and former president of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers; and Doyle Albee of Strategic Advantage Communications, which handles a variety of communications activities for the Center.

The USOVP effort will serve as a “business accelerator” for videophone technology, predicts Jubeck. “We have the technology today to put them in real-time video communications with their families,” he says.

USO Videophone has already obtained the authority to deploy videophones to military centers, and talks are already underway with a number of MSOs, including Charter Communications, Comcast Corp. and Cox Communications, Jubeck says.

The first phase of the project is to connect 121 USO centers with the technology. That phase won’t be completed until late 2004. “We want to do this right, not fast,” Jubeck says.

Phase II, a more costly endeavor, will attempt to install the technology in hundreds of U.S. military installations. USO Videophone, Jubeck says, is currently seeking grants from public and private foundations for project funding.
--------------------------------------------------------
USOVP is still seeking a videophone-manufacturing partner. “We’re close to finding a videophone partner,” Jubeck says, noting that such a relationship should be solidified by early next year.

more of the same:
"According to a well-publicized Frost & Sullivan research report, the U.S. distance learning market is expected to be $2.9 billion in 2004," said Garey De Angelis, CEO of Motion Media Technology. "Motion Media is in a unique position to provide breakthrough video communications products to these distance learning markets by offering solutions that pack performance, flexibility and robust capability, as well as including a price point that appeals to cost-conscious organizations, such as universities and government institutions."

"With the need for distance learning growing at such remarkable speed, we chose Motion Media to custom deliver this large custom bridging solution. We can now bridge as many participants we desire with 'one to many' conferencing for distance education," said Jaime Tacher y Samarel, Director General, Mexico. "With the variable call speeds and call formats that are quite common here in Mexico, the Motion Media Distance Learning Conferencing Solution gives us the flexibility to not only use the bridge in one environment or application, but many."

At the heart of the DLCS platform is a 48-port IP conferencing bridge designed from the ground up to service the needs of one-to-many distance learning conditions. Capable of supporting a myriad of call speeds and equipment formats, the DLCS platform enables legacy video communications equipment to work with the latest desktop videoconferencing products, such as the Motion Media mm745, by way of Motion Media's Conference Manager Software. The DLCS platform bridge will be centered in Mexico City, where it will be able to connect to 48 universities throughout the country.

Integral in deployment, government relations and in-nation management of this distance learning project is SAASTEL, a Motion Media partner and distributor in Mexico that specializes with large-scale deployments of video/telephony solutions for telehealth, security and surveillance, and enterprise environments.

"With this Motion Media's DLCS platform in place, one professor will be able to present and lecture to thousands of students. This opens new doors for specialists, such as doctors, who can further extend their expertise to colleagues and students dispersed throughout the country," concludes Garey De Angelis.

Deployment began December 31, 2003 and is expected to be completed by Q2, 2004.

More gris for the MMD mill?

President Bush presents 2004 State of the Union Address ***

KUAM-TV,

"On the home front, Guam's economy is showing signs of recovery. The President spoke on what we need to do this year: job training for new economic opportunities through community colleges, bolstering homeland security and addressing shortfalls in health care. I would also like to add to that list placing special emphasis on health care for minorities and those in rural areas. I support the President's idea of bringing information technology to bear on providing solutions to these problems. I will be introducing legislation to enable Guam to access federal funds for telemedicine under the Rural Healthcare program. I hope the President will support my initiative, as an example of new technology increasing access to health care.

Does anybody think mmd will get above 50p this year?

ticker - 24 Jan 2004 11:18 - 18 of 19

xx, I like to think that this stock will shoot up to the moon, but for the last few days the share price has been very volatile because of profit taking. I got in at the 12p mark and will hold on to them for the long term. IMHO, this company has a lot of upside protential.

Andy - 24 Jan 2004 20:14 - 19 of 19

ticker,

A couple of points to bear in mind;

MMD have YET to announce a significant profit generating deal.

They have sufficient cash to last until June 2004.

If no major orders are announced by April, then another diluting cash call willprobably be required, at a discount to market price, which will knock down MMD's price to near that figure.

Rumours of an impending significant deal abound on the BB's, but, as yet, have not actually materialised into a signed document. Until such time, MMD remains high risk.

Should a major deal be announced, I would axpect a rapid rise in price.
