basharat - 07 Mar 2004 16:45

cyber china(CYC) is in the process of final preparations to float 2 more chineese companies in uk and also possibly on nasdaq
market economy is fast approaching in accelrating phase from initial consolidation
CYC is star for very near future so my advice would be get on anf off you gohowever it is always better to DYOR

I am but a novice in this game, but I would offer a word of caution.

It is no secret that a Play of the Week tip by Shares Magazine for a penny share can lead to a 'spike' in that company's SP. I have personal experience of two.

ZOO - bought after the tip and then watched the share settle to a more realistic level, I am still waiting to get back into profit.

IEN - I purchased an interest in this company just after the New Year, (8.8p) and was delighted to see it tipped as a Play of the Week a few weeks later. I monitored the price Thursday and Friday, sure enough it rose to 14.6p. I kept a close eye open the following Monday to see when the price topped out and sold that same day at around 14.5p. Sure enough the SP fell back over the following days to a level of about 11.5p. It has yet to get back to the former levels.

The point I am trying to make is that strong tips from magazines / newspapers can artificially inflate the price. Personally it is unlikely I will act on a media tip again. Once you have the info, so does everyone else and it is probably to late. It may well be that CYC will continue to rise and go from strength to strength, only you can make the decision whether to buy tomorrow or not. DYOR.

Good luck

pth. wise words and I agree with you a good deal. however, I do think that CYC have a potential far beyond their current share price and would expect a level of 4-5 pence to settle at for a longish period until major gains become apparent on recent and future associations.
good luck to all

I tend to agree with your opinion of CYC, but as you clearly understand, it's not necessarily a good idea to act late on a tip, (on the other hand the SP may continue to rise and one has missed the boat, but isn't that the joy and frustration of investing in the stock market?). I must say that the China association is very interesting and I will be monitoring the SP to see what happens and may possibly dip my toe in this week.

I've just got a few as a punt. They look interesting and the model is good, even if there are a couple of failures the potential upside is enormous. Still seriously volatile at the moment though. China is the maket of the moment but is it overheating?

janesteve - 16 Mar 2004 18:14 - 10 of 55

already held these before they were tipped in shares....quite a good right in shares article....thus why the price rose so much....seems to have settled again now bus has got tremendous potential.

A note of caution from the BBC:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3522552.stm

The article says SMIC, China's largest chipmaker, has had a rough debut on the NY and HK exchanges. There are concerns about Chinese accounting practices.

Has made me think twice before taking the plunge!

scotch jock - 19 Mar 2004 11:12 - 16 of 55

Anyone any news on the SSH listing on OFEX, have sent 2emails to CYC but no answer so far.

scotch jock - 19 Mar 2004 11:13 - 17 of 55

Heres prospectus on Sinovation:
http://www.companynews.co.uk/nic/content/prospectus/ssh.pdf

"...in the field of ultrasonic data input and detection, which are linked
to reactive touch screens and educational white boards where graphical script is
used - greater China, Japan and Korea. Additional uses have been identified in
the areas of data security and electronic voting..."
"...it has developed an ultrasonic pen that can be used to write on computer screens."

the next companies are:

China Wonder - manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging
and China Cat - a reseller of catalysts for the oil refinery business.

China Wonder is being listed in April on AIM and China CAt later on in the year.
No News as yet of SSH listing date.
