biffa,

It seems like something has disabled the Java - can you try the link I posted earlier to download the latest version and let me know if that cures the problem?

I have been having problems with pages not loading again (unavailable) so I went to the link and downloaded it etc.
Now in stockwatch the bar at the bottom gives the following
"Applet com.deltastream.applet.stock.StockApplet started" and appears stuck....
This now means I can't use the "T" for trades...The trades flash up as normal and I can move between watch lists .
Any ideas.......Graeme.

biffa,

I know it sounds simple but can you try a restart on your PC if you have not already done this?

Regards

Ian

Graeme,

I am not sure what is happening here, but can you answer the following?

When you go to a streaming page, does it show, but then it sticks? Could you try a restart on your PC for me if you haven't already.

Have you got any kind of firewall on your PC, or have you made any changes recently to the computer.

Thanks

Ian

Graeme,

With regard to the problem of clicking on the T icon to access the trades for that company, this would more that likely be caused by a firewall - are you behind a corporate or personal firewall?

IanT.
Windows XP home SP2. Norton Internet Security 2004.
Everything was working fine untill the last few days I started to notice that when I jumped from page to page or refreshed a page, about 20% of the time I was getting the "page can not be found or unavailable screen would come up. On second attemp at refress this would often be ok. ( by page I mean things like Stock Watch / Invest / Port /Traders). The Flags were all working Ok.

This morning on reading the thread I thought (dangerous) I should go to the Java Link you had put up as this might cure the above problem.I downloaded it and have not changed anything else recently.

Since download that has cured the page refreshing / not found problem, but the flags are now not working. All three, graph/T and L2 (I know I dont have L2).
The pages load fine (they seem quicker but this may be to do with time of day or something else). The prices and deals are updating as normal on Stockwatch.
I now have the Applet message in the bottom left as per post 8 where this would normally say "Done"

Tried re start, havent changed anything else.
I haven't haven't tried uninstalling the java update yet as I think this has cured the refresh problem. But I amjust guessing as I dont understand what Java etc is for.
Any ideas.........Graeme.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 26 Oct 2004 12:28 - 15 of 29

Graeme,

Do you have any kind of pop up blocking software on your PC?

Ian

GRAEME.ALEXANDER - 26 Oct 2004 12:40 - 16 of 29

Ian T
Yes, I think its part of Norton. It is because I just tried disabeling Norton and it all worked but I also got all the adds.

I then re enabled norton and the flags dont work again.
There must be a way around it because before this mornings download they all worked with the norton firewall on.I used them all regularly.
Surley I dont have a to choose between having flags working and no firewall or firewall and no flags.
Is there a setting somewhere that I can change and still have both because the Java update has cured the other problem.
I know I am a pain but you lot are great at sorting these things out for us idiots and I do appreciate your help.
Graeme.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 26 Oct 2004 12:43 - 17 of 29

Graeme,

In order for those news flags to work, you would need to have the pop blocker inn Norton turned off. There maybe (but I am not sure about this) a prompt function within it so you can still choose which ads to view but also to be able to click on the news flag.

GRAEME.ALEXANDER - 26 Oct 2004 13:09 - 18 of 29

IanT.
Sorted. I found a setting in Norton. I have the flags but NO ADS and refress / speed good.
Thanks for your help again. Graeme.

Kivver - 26 Oct 2004 19:54 - 19 of 29

Tried to download java and after waiting an annoying 25 mins it all froze, so didn't get it loaded. Also have Norton protection on this comp. Anyway back home tommorrow so not to worry.

GRAEME.ALEXANDER - 29 Oct 2004 12:10 - 21 of 29

IanT(MoneyAM) - 29 Oct 2004 12:23 - 22 of 29

Kivver,

Not sure why the Java download should cause you any problems as it is pretty srtaight forward - hopefully all will be fine when you are back in front of your own terminal

Ian

Kivver - 29 Oct 2004 12:32 - 23 of 29

no, just tried to read your moneyam report again, i get the border but just blank in the middle.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 29 Oct 2004 12:36 - 24 of 29

Kivver,

You have a hotmail account - it would seem that unfortunately they have some kind of filter that does not display the text correctly.

If you have another e mail provider, please can you chage the deliver address for MoneyAM to that - the other option is that we are going to link these off the front page on a daily basis, this should happen in the next week or so, so you will be able to view them from there.

Regards

Ian
