MSB INTERNATIONAL - a bargain ? (MSB)

krypton - 15 Sep 2005 10:55

Does anybody follow the recruitment agency ?
Recent figures from Michael Page International and Harvey Nash were excellent suggesting the sector is doing very well. MSB figures are due next month.
Thanks to having Level 2 all week I notice that Winterfloods have been slowly but surely raising the bid price all week on hardly any volume. Now there is only a half pence spread !!!
Any information would be appreciated to help me work out whether to dive in.

Plenty of buy volume today which would normally move the price up a penny or two and as it hasn't would suggest that a line of stock is currently being shifted.

One of my friends was the founder of MSB and I remember when he & Kenny Lipton (who I was at school with) set the company up. He no longer has an interest having sold most of his stake to fund an abortive foray into football.

Quiz: What does MSB stand for?

go on ...
what does MSB stand for ?

kaysmart - 22 Dec 2005 15:38 - 10 of 18

Hi Mono,

Obviously some one thinks its a bargain at this sort of price or they would not buy more then 20% of the company.
I have taken the plunge I think its a good value and believe the shares have bottomed out. Hopefully it should start moving up now.

Management Silly Buggers - perhaps?

Just when this company appeared to have turned the corner, the management invest in unneeded sales staff to decide a few months later that the cost base is wrong once again only to lay them off.

I'm all for a merger with another recruiter now - dump Mr Brown, Zielinski and Ketchin and save 4p per share per annum in Directors salaries - how's that for cost cutting?

What a crap 'profit warning' statement to make.

Third Advance Value Realisation Company Ltd

The Progressive work out team focuses on the smaller end of the UK equity market. The small cap element of the UK market is significant by number but small by value. Liquidity can be poor with holdings often sold at depressed levels.

Whilst institutions are able, if they desire, to dedicate time and resource to this area the potential impact on performance is such that it may not be an efficient use of their time. Via an innovative stock swap and limited life fund, Progressive is able to offer institutions a logical and cost effective service whereby we manage an orderly realisation of assets, enhancing value and saving management time.

Key features

Specialists in realising value from small and illiquid UK listed securities
Proven investment process with award winning fund
Highly experienced and successful management team
Recycle money from non-core holdings and rationalise portfolios
Focus management resources on performance
Innovative, unique approach to save management time

Fund Name: Third Advance Value Realisation (TAVR)
Description: Limited life, closed-ended, London listed, launched 2005

###########################################

Progressive operates in a number of distinct areas but the common theme is provision of service which addresses the needs of institutional clients including major retail intermediaries such as private client stockbrokers. Its focus is on niche product areas where it can add value and its investment management staff have a wealth of experience in a variety of asset classes including investment trusts and other closed ended funds, small companies (especially with respect to special situations), private equity, bonds, preference shares, equity income funds, hedge funds and emerging markets. PAML is complemented by access to corporate finance expertise within its sister company, Marshall Securities Limited. Another subsidiary company, Cavendish Administration, administers funds for both internal and external clients.

Snappy

Extremely useful info on the new 20% holders.
Thanks for that.

Very interesting times ahead.

Mono

snappy - 22 Dec 2005 16:11 - 14 of 18

yes I hope so Mono, but I would hate to see an outright cash takeover at or around current prices for this undervalued and poorly managed company. Of course with Eaglet with a 20% stake looking for an exit before and the profit warning earlier this week no surprise to see it trading down at these levels.

Holding for better times ahead.

Merry Christmas

"What does MSB stand for?"

When Mark Goldberg & Kenny Lipton set up MSB international they were a couple of 20 year old lads setting up a small firm that they hoped would help them to meet their personal aspirations - Money, Sex and Beer - hence 'MSB'. They had no reason to change the initials as the company grew in a way they couldn't have dreamed of. Kenny left in the very early days; Mark sold most of his shares at 9.50 to raise funds to buy Crystal Palace.

True.

Gausie

Thanks for that. I know that Mark Goldberg wanted to buy Crystal Palace so can safely assume the rest of it is true !!!

Money, Sex and Beer ??

I hope Third Advance Value Realisation Company get their fair share !!!!

Snappy - Merry Christmas to you too. Agree that any takeout anywhere near the current SP would be extremely annoying.

AGM and Trading Update

At the Annual General Meeting of MSB International PLC held today, all of the
resolutions set out in the Notice of the Meeting sent to Shareholders as part
of the Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 January 2006 were duly passed.

The actions taken over the past few months to improve operational gearing and
reduce overheads have taken effect, with revenues and profit ahead of internal
