Questions for Stanelco (SEO)

Bema - 20 Oct 2005 11:19

I shall write up the letter Sunday evening (23rd) and post Monday AM. I won't be about Fri or Sat but i promise to read up and include all genuine contributions from here and FYB.

What do you want to know..................?

Bema - 20 Oct 2005 12:28 - 6 of 32

LOL, knew that question was coming from you bela. ;o)

shamona - 20 Oct 2005 12:29 - 7 of 32

Don't like to dissapoint! :-)

bosley - 20 Oct 2005 12:47 - 8 of 32

very good idea , bema. i have three questions.
could you ask if they are concerned by boardroom leaks? the manipulation of the sp the day before an rns seems to suggest that mms are being tipped off by someone.
also, could you ask why nothing further has been mentioned about the reckitt beckinser, reiser and grampian trials? ( just seeking a satisfactory explanantion as none yet has been given by seo)
finally, (very simialr to niels' question), do seo intend to manufacture starpol or do they intend to license the ip?
thanks

Bema - 20 Oct 2005 13:08 - 9 of 32

I am also in touch with PM1, he has suggested:

I guess we should be told what new Starpol products were announced at the show earlier this week, as we haven't had any press release or RNS yet.

Is one of the new Starpol 2000 products an Oxygen Scavenger ?

Do they think Wal-Mart are waiting for FDA approval on Starpol 2000, so that they can change to a Greenseal and Starpol 2000 combination, and bin the Polythene ?

Are all the US big retailers using Polythene, or are there any in a position to use Greenseal without Starpol 2000, like ASDA are ?

LIcom - 20 Oct 2005 13:54 - 10 of 32

A report from Lemming Investor due at the weekend, will hopefully answer some of your questions.

There have been six reports on SEO in 2005. If you ask nicely, you get a free report on SEO. Heres one for going on with. SEO

Bema - 20 Oct 2005 16:03 - 11 of 32

Questions so far, i've had to change the wording of some so i hope everyone is happy that their questions are still there and intact.

Again i'm not sure that they will be able to answer all questions but theres no harm in asking. I expect they will be happy to clarify the Natureworks questions and will be suprised at the trouble the reports have given us!

1) What was Stanelcos role at the recent conference at Philadelphia? Did they speak at all, demonstrate or were they just in the crowd?

2) In a previous RNS you said new Starpol products would be revealed at the recent conference in the US. What were they?

3) Is one of the new Starpol 2000 products an Oxygen Scavenger?

4) Is Wal-Mart waiting for FDA approval on Starpol 2000, so that they can change to a Greenseal and Starpol 2000 combination, and bin the Polythene?

5) Are all the US big retailers using Polythene, or are there any in a position to use Greenseal without Starpol 2000, like ASDA are?

6) Do you have any idea of the expected timeframe for FDA approval for Starpol usage with meat products?

7) What does the recently announced tie-up with Natureworks actually mean? Unfortunately the reports on this have been translated in many ways so there are several versions floating around the net.

8) Are we just buying material from Natureworks for use in Starpol that we sell to other companies or are we supplying Natureworks in any way?

9) Does SEO/Biotec intend to manufacture all Starpol or do they intend to license the IP?

10) Are Stanelco producing Starpol for Natureworks?

11) As shareholders in Stanelco, are the directors concerned by the negative market vibes regarding the company recently? and if so/not then why?

12) Is there any concern over potential leaks of information? The regular manipulation of the share price the day before an RNS seems to suggest that someone in the market has advance knowledge.

13) The company is perceived by many on the outside to be 'jack of all trades, but master of none' as from the outside many feel we are spreading ourselves too thin on numerous products. Why is it that Greenseal appears to be on the backburner yet we have engineers and the like in the USA waiting for deals?

14) Are the Stanelco actively seeking to end the BPRG court case fiasco?

15) Why has nothing further has been mentioned about the Reckitt Beckinser, Reiser and Grampian trials? This gives the impression that these issues have now been quietly dropped.

16) Are you able to give a potential launch date for the Mondini RF machine?

17) How many RF conversions have Stanelco done so far under the ASDA exclusivity contract? Is there a projected target take-up rate by which Stanelco are measuring progress and are Stanelco achieving it?

18) How long do you expect to have to keep the 'auction' open for the sale of the cigarette filter patents?

bosley - 20 Oct 2005 16:21 - 12 of 32

bema, very well done, great stuff. an excellent set of questions and hopefully seo will answer as many as they possibly can. good luck and please keep us informed of the answers you receive.

hewittalan6 - 20 Oct 2005 16:23 - 13 of 32

Thanks from me too, bema.
Like most people in this company, I want to know what has happened to the stuff that was announced, looked good and then wasn't mentioned again. Those questions should answer that.
Alan

driver - 20 Oct 2005 16:34 - 14 of 32

Well done bema a good set of questions.

Bema - 20 Oct 2005 16:40 - 15 of 32

Cool, well if the questions dry up i can send it today, but i wanted to give everyone a chance to contribute so i'll give it a while.

Bugz - 20 Oct 2005 16:53 - 16 of 32

Yeah top stuff Bema-and cheers for peoples input.

Cant think of anything to add to that list-very complete :-)

EWRobson - 20 Oct 2005 18:10 - 17 of 32

An addition to q13. How many advanced and premier engineers were actually trained and how many of these are actively involved in client work?

Eric

NielsJensen - 20 Oct 2005 21:28 - 18 of 32

bema, well done. If you have the time kindly rephrase q18 to my original wording: "When is the auction for the cigarette filter technology going to take place? "

I'm 99.99% sure I read an Evolution (or other paper) stating that the technology is not fully developed/approved and that SEO intends to auction the IP now to the highest bidder that believe it will work.

Again, thanks for your efforts,

ynot1f - 21 Oct 2005 14:57 - 19 of 32

Bema,
Could you ask them to clarify the SP Metal Order. What are the 10,000 tons of Starpol for, film or semi-rigids, and who is the is the end user or supplier.

Thanks

bhunt1910 - 21 Oct 2005 15:11 - 20 of 32

Bema - the guys are not back in the office until Monday - so dont break a leg trying to get it out today.

Thanks for coordinating this - well done

Baza

Bema - 21 Oct 2005 18:02 - 21 of 32

No problem Nielsjensen, just had several questions on the auction and was trying to cover it with one. will correct.

Bema - 21 Oct 2005 18:48 - 22 of 32

Ok the latest version. I have added your question rather than change it Nielsjensen. I don't think we need both but i want to keep every contributor happy.

QC has also given a new question that i think is very important. Number 11.

I'm going to send late Sunday. Please feel free to point out typos or correct me if you feel i have altered your question. I have no problem with a little editing to keep all contributors happy, this is after all "your letter" :o)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) What was Stanelcos role at the recent conference at Philadelphia? Did they speak at all, demonstrate or were they just in the crowd?

9) Does SEO/Biotec intend to manufacture all Starpol or do they intend to license the IP?

10) Are Stanelco producing Starpol for Natureworks?

11) There are various statements around regarding Starpol. It is claimed that both Natureworks PLA and Starpol are compostable. In particular I had been lead to believe that Starpol would decompose on my own compost heap within 6-8 weeks. As PLA is the main ingredient in Starpol and has since been shown to only compost in temperatures of 135 deg F or 57 deg C (well above a normal compost heap temperature) can we have clarification on the conditions required for Starpol to decompose.

12) As shareholders in Stanelco, are the directors concerned by the negative market vibes regarding the company recently? and if so/not then why?

13) Is there any concern over potential leaks of information? The regular manipulation of the share price the day before an RNS seems to suggest that someone in the market has advance knowledge.

NielsJensen - 22 Oct 2005 14:50 - 23 of 32

Bema,

Re. q2 I can't seem to find the RNS I thought I had seen. Maybe you should replace "In a previous RNS you said" with "We understood". That is, of course, unless someone finds the RNS.

Sharesure - 22 Oct 2005 15:58 - 24 of 32

Bema, You probably saw this on the other SEO thread:

Hi there all, been in this stock for a few months. Working in the retail packing industry as a maintenance manager for for one off ASDA/Wal*Marts suppliers for Red meat and Pork products, we are one of 3 companies that ASDA use to supply these products in the UK. Just to let you know a bit about the company we have with in the last year opened a new plant at a cost of 32 millon which basically went ahead due to the agrement with ASDA to go to just 3 suppliers, at the present time we are doing any where from 500 to 650 tones of finished product for ASDA a week, over 12 production lines.
I was up at ASDA house a couple of times over the last few weeks on on labelling issues, where i was hoping to pick up a bit of information on any future developments with the packaging we use, but unfortunatly did not here any thing. We have a few visits this coming week from technical people and the new incoming head meat buyer for ASDA. Which i will keep my ear to ground on to see if i here of any proposed changes from the packaging/sealing systems we are currently using. I know from varoius meetings we have in house that ASDA are allways looking in to ways that we thier suppliers can reduce costs and with the high oil price we have at the moment and the effect that has on the cost of the PVC/PE films at the present this could be one area where savings could be made. Also product shelf life would be a huge advantge to them if it could be increased. I work closely with the packaging buyer on the site i work and have asked him to keep me up to date of any new and coming projects he heres of. Thats all for now, hopefully be back some time with some good news for us investors, i am sure long term this will be a winner just a case of playing the waiting game. "

Would be interesting to hear Howard White's views on thatas it doesn't sound like the sort of thing that should go unchallenged if it isn't true.

Bema - 22 Oct 2005 16:46 - 25 of 32

Hi Sharesure,

I can see what your saying but am unsure how we would ask it. Basically we would be asking Howard if an unspecified company hadn't installed any Greenseal when they upgraded. Ok there's maybe enough information there for someone in the know to guess at a company but i'm not sure its a fair question.

Remember Greenseal hasn't been approved by ASDA for a full year yet and a new factory would be required to start producing as soon as possible or lose money. So i don't really think we should be disappointed by that statement if true.

What do people think? I will include it if you all want.

Nielsjensen,

I could've sworn i saw that RNS as well. Must admit to not checking. If another poster or I can't find it before Sunday PM i will ammend as you suggest. Well noticed!
