How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Draw price in the morning dependant on Inzi - if he goes early it will fly out, if not will be 1.15 within an hour and a bit

bakko - 23 Nov 2005 11:45 - 6046 of 10502

No. Got in at 2.22 and 1.55 and scalping on the way down between the 2 prices.

Still well in the money but not greened up yet. Will have to if the wickets keep falling!

Fundamentalist - 23 Nov 2005 11:47 - 6047 of 10502

Well done bak

have been laying the short prices :-)

WOODIE - 23 Nov 2005 12:00 - 6048 of 10502

been out for a for a hours all the action when i was out!

schiff - 23 Nov 2005 12:04 - 6049 of 10502

I've gone against the trend. A modest bet on England last night at 8.4 and the same on Pakistan just now at 8. They have just seemed value bets - particularly if you think back to the last Test.
I can green up tomorrow when the draw goes to 2 (lol) and if it doesn't I haven't lost a lot.

Harlosh - 23 Nov 2005 20:03 - 6050 of 10502

Nobody trading tonight?

What about you Abacus?

Fundamentalist - 23 Nov 2005 20:42 - 6051 of 10502

Evening John

Been busy putting up blinds and curtains now that the lounge is finished :-)

Any ideas for tonights footie - how are Liverpool playing or is it a case of looking for draw crashes?

Scripophilist - 23 Nov 2005 20:47 - 6052 of 10502

Had a bet on Chelsea but that is about all.

Fundamentalist - 23 Nov 2005 20:47 - 6053 of 10502

as you say bet i assume youve not bothered to green up :-)

Harlosh - 23 Nov 2005 20:48 - 6054 of 10502

Not happy with anything tonight to be honest. Just watching for opportunities.

Fundamentalist - 23 Nov 2005 20:52 - 6055 of 10502

Porto to beat Rangers interests me - anyone see much of first half?

Harlosh - 23 Nov 2005 21:01 - 6056 of 10502

Good call Steve. Did you put it on?

Harlosh - 23 Nov 2005 21:25 - 6057 of 10502

Real/Lyon match. Backed the draw at 1.71.

Harlosh - 23 Nov 2005 21:35 - 6058 of 10502

Green.

Fundamentalist - 23 Nov 2005 22:07 - 6059 of 10502

John

got about a quarter of it filled when Porto scored - made a tiny profit and scalped the draw in the liverpool game

well done on the real/lyon game

bakko - 23 Nov 2005 22:13 - 6060 of 10502

Well done guys.

Was out tonight so no trades but decided to green up on the cricket so will be cheering for Eng rather than the draw.

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 04:51 - 6061 of 10502

Looking a good decision so far Bak

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 05:18 - 6062 of 10502

England getting desperate for more wickets and quick - maybe the new ball will provide but already 230 to chase looks too many

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 06:11 - 6063 of 10502

Game over as far as Engalnd concerned and draw looking nailed on - though a couple of early england wickets could create a little interest

Cant believe the catch Strauss dropped - and nor can the guy who layed the draw for 12k at 1.27 (it was at 1.19) as the ball was in the air

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 07:44 - 6064 of 10502

England 5 for 2 in the second over and Pakistan now got every chance - hope we all backed them at nice double figure prices :-)
