How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Edward

if no wickets in the next 25 mins before tea then the draw price will be 1.1 or thereabouts - been a cracking day to trade!

KP out before tea - greened up my last Pak back and have laid to scalp over tea

Pietersen's wicket was costly for England.

Draw back bet currently flat. Thinking about laying the draw in case Pakistan get another wicket. If they do it should run a mile.

had another small back of pakistan at 4.8

Freddie gone but we should hold on from here :-)

Any ideas on how many overs to go before dodgy light sets in?

TIA

How many overs to go?

schiff - 24 Nov 2005 10:53 - 6079 of 10502

Two minds!

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 10:54 - 6080 of 10502

Game should finish approx 11.35 - 11.40 based on previous says so i guess 10-12 max

schiff - 24 Nov 2005 11:13 - 6081 of 10502

Just come up - 22

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 11:14 - 6082 of 10502

schiff

if you mean 22 as in overs - that is the official number but no more than 30 mins play left beacuse of the light - be lucky to get 5 more in if a couple of wickets do fall

schiff - 24 Nov 2005 11:18 - 6083 of 10502

You are right - they have just said about 21 overs
'that's not going to be possible'!

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 11:19 - 6084 of 10502

Schiff

if there was 21 overs left and the draw at 1.03 id be on the phone to my bank for a loan and lay every penny i could get my hands on!!!!

bakko - 24 Nov 2005 11:25 - 6085 of 10502

Yessssss!

Took a pure and utter gamble at 1.7s on the draw during the carnage and has paid off handsomely but minus many heartbeats!

schiff - 24 Nov 2005 11:34 - 6086 of 10502

Geraint Jones and Giles have played some superb innings for England in recent years bearing in mind they are not really top order batsmen. Good example today.

Betfair seems to be dragging their heels in settling on the cricket!

compoundup - 24 Nov 2005 12:49 - 6088 of 10502

I always find that when I'm "maxed-out" like Steve was this morning :-(

Fundamentalist - 24 Nov 2005 12:56 - 6089 of 10502

Mines a healthy enough profit that I can wait for it :-) Not planning on trading the horses this afternoon - off to a furniture auction

bakko - 24 Nov 2005 13:12 - 6090 of 10502

Steve.......What a coincidence! I hope you're not buying my furniture. As you already know our house sale is about to go through any day and we have to be out in the next 2 wks. Had the auctioneers around this morning to take away 2 pieces of old furniture that we need to get rid off. If you see 2 pieces of crap, just make sure you bid as much as possible...LOL

Hope everyone on here has done well on the cricket.

compoundup - 24 Nov 2005 13:26 - 6091 of 10502

Cricket settled :-)
