Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

What is all this fuss is about trading with our European partners ? hard brexit/ soft brexit....blinkin nonsense all round....we export and import....we come to an arrangement with them about customs.....what is all this palaver about trading ?....perhaps the EU excesses are going to come to light with the general public finding out about all the corrupt payments that have undoubtedly been going on !......we can't have that can we....dear oh dear....you can rest assured that cover-ups will be the name of the game !....but I reckon over time some untouchables might be named with their noses stuck deep in the trough !....

Why has the market devalued the pound by 15+%.
Are we 15% worse off?
Will the pound drop further?
Market seemed to like Maybe speech to-day.

Don't see any reason for a fuss.

Merkel Calls For Faster Deportation Of Failed Asylum Seekers
BERLIN (Alliance News) - Chancellor Angela Merkel calls for moves to speed up the deportation of failed asylum seekers as well as improvements in the networking among European security services.
Experience shows that the authorities could decide much more quickly whether asylum seekers can stay in Germany and whether their countries of origin were secure enough to return to, Merkel says.
"We need better networking in the EU," she says.

why do some of you continue to delude yourselves that trade deals can be done within a couple of weeks?
for all sorts of good reasons (and bad probably as well) they are very complex

Am I correct that vat will be abolished when we leave the EU in full ?......if so that is when the big frauds might appear with certain companies/people defrauding the EU system on a massive scale ! : these companies probably depend on the dodgy system and without it will fold.....some big boys might end up in the nick !...they must have cursed when the Leave camp won......

No VAT won't be abolished, whether they change the name thats
another matter, before VAT there was a sales tax put on sales.

Apparently the French far right want to do the same as and exit the Euro and return to the good old franc.....elections next may !.....they get in and that will be the end of the euro.....and from what I understand they are doing not too badly in the opinion polls......the problem is France has far too many migrants...they can't get rid of them....they are supporting Greece (along with Germany of course) but it is completely draining their resources keeping a stranglehold on french growth : there is no room for investment with the need to prop up the euro minnow economies .......

A sales tax will be in place but the vat system will have to be altered without any doubt...it can't be called vat anymore....so will this be like when we went decimal....a transitional period perhaps if I might call it that and will the percentage be the same ?...it could be less or more....if 10 % instead of 20 : we could undercut European economies in sales/pricing growth.....there might be a fabulous opportunity here if May's government can keep a tight reign on finances somehow.....Hong Kong Britain I wonder ?....this situation could turn into a major ace at the brexit negotiations table....

VAT probably 30% by Jan 2018.
Unless Maybe has done a runner.

it's also possible but I don't think such a massive increase would be politically acceptable Freddy......more like 2 or 3%...but a big drop might boost the economy....

The government could say to the EU....now listen unless you agree to good trade terms we cut the sales tax/vat upon brexit date......it's like poker.....(or blackmail).....more like the latter....
