From the Grid.org forum 5Aug05:
Dear members,
Thanks for being so patient. Below is a current update on grid.org:
A new LigandFit Pancreatic Cancer job is still pending new data from our European partner. In the meantime, the grid.org team will be performing some LigandFit post-processing script improvements on our LigandFit grid infrastructure in order to prepare for the new Cancer project data soon to arrive from our European partner. As a result, the old LigandFit Cancer job that is currently running will be suspended briefly in order for our team to make the necessary preparations offline.
The Rosetta Human Proteome Folding batches of jobs on grid.org continue to run well, and results are being post-processed nicely. Thanks for contributing your compute time.
Kindest Regards,
grid.org team

Processing of LigandFit Cancer job started again last night just after you posted. One machine started by itself, two more had to be persuaded by restarting UD twice. The forum goes onto say the the team stats table has been corrupted and is being rebuilt. Individual data has not been lost. I also gather that if you delete the duplicate devices, created after re-logging on after the last problem, the associated history will also be deleted. This will not affect the actual processed results.

Thanks for the info skg.
I was starting to think it was something wrong at my end as I have changed all my computers o/s and installed norton on my home network. I am now showing 9 devices instead of four but as they are now busy helping I think its best left alone. Graeme.

I wondered why I hadn't noticed a problem, and then discovered that my pc is currently working on a project (Rosetta Human Proteome Folding Project) that has so far taken over 85 hours, and is only 39% complete. So with a bit of luck UD will be back up by the time it's finished:-)

I have stuck with the Cancer Research Project as it didn't seem clear to me whether the Rosetta Human Proteome Folding Project was only going to benefit US institutions and corporations. If it does make it clear somewhere could you please post a link.

Sorry skg, I wasn't aware you could pick and choose projects. Mine works on a variety of projects, but I don't know how they're selected.

The folding project appears to be run by a non-profit making research institute, see
http://www.systemsbiology.org/About_ISB/FAQ, although that doesn't fully answer the question.
To select the projects run on your machine you need to go to
https://www.grid.org/services/devices/devices.htm and edit the profile for each device (or the default one in most cases).

Thanks Kayak,
You beet me to the devices link.
When the Rosetta Human Proteome Folding Project started on UD I searched in vane for a definitive answer and may have already read the ISB FAQ.
I am still happy to think that every day (except for today) I have contributed in a small way to the search for a cancer cure.
Yesterday as a result of the current problems I turned off all my machines for the first time in months, I had not realised how loud the constant background hum was.

Gone a bit haywire I think, not only not credited points for a 100 hour program but has now deducted about 750 points from the last shown total.

Such a long time in between posts.
However this seems a good time of the year to bring this thread TTT, with a reminder that the work goes on, it costs nothing and does not degrade the performance of your PC.
Easy to sign up and let your PC be used for vital research whenever you are online.
Perhaps G you will give us an upgrade on our achievments this year.
regards and good wishes for the new year to all.

TTT............... In case this was missed by the holiday makers :-)
A lot a reseach being done with the help of your PC. This must be worth a large annual donation in cash to cancer research.
Not signed up? Look into it now, you never know who this is going to benefit.
