Well, Worldspreads had the venue but not the presenters. Perhaps this lot have the presenters but not the venue.... Shall we start a 'spreadbet' on where the venue will be...?

Sounds like you are shorting it Stan!
Elsewhere you said (if I recollect correctly) that your are now dealing through Barclays. If you get a moment, could you do a "dummy" buy /sell for MCRO and see what max size you can get? Selftrade has now shrunk right down over the months to little more than a few pen'orth a time. Not good for a FTSE250 stock.

55,
Test for MCRO, I asked for quotes in s rather then No. of shares.
10000- rejected
5000- rejected
4000-rejected
3000-rejected
2000-rejected
1000- accepted at 299.75 (that price looks like a slight premium to other deals done at
the same time) ie 10.17am.
Hope that is of some help 55.
Ed: This was to buy.

55,
I offered approx 12000 for sale with Barclays and was accepted at 296 a few moments ago. (Through Barclays)
According to SHarescope which is normally accurate NMS 75000.
I think there is still a lot further to run and will await results 6/12/07, even though this market is a B..

5501,
Just read Stan's post and checked back. I bought 11666 shares on the 3/8/07 in one deal thro' Barclays. No problems at the time.
Also just offered them and quoted 296 without problems!
Suggests a shortage coming up to results on the 6/!2/07.

55/Fred.
Skinny on the Traders thread has just said that it's Double Witching day today so my test may have been distorted.

Well, Selftrade have just given a max of 100 to buy, 1000 to sell (shares). I agree with Fred that the market is skewed, and I know generally that the free float is limited.
However, there is a fair difference between Selftrade and Barclays ie between 100 shares and the equivalent of 330 shares. Even so this is minute compared with sizes of 5000 regularly available back in the summer. If Fred got over 11,000 online at one go back then, then it does appear that Selftrade is not offering such wonderful terms. If Fred can get shot of all 11,000 odd in one go now online then Selftrade is clearly failing.
Look like it's turning out no better than iDealing.

As a quick follow on, I have looked on Selftrade for Microfocus to trade via Plus, and the Selftrade screen came up with Microfocus - LSE - as TELEPHONE trading only! A FTSE 250 company!!!!!!!!!! This just gets curiouser and curiouser. As Fred rightly says, results in three weeks time. Big 0.6m trade just gone through. I suspect stakebuilding. Bid? Dream? Fantasy?
Level playing field. Pah!!!!!!!

Further evidence that Selftrade is no longer the Broker that it was under Comdirect/Squaregain Management in many important ways IMHO.

Hard to know if is just a quirk of this stock, or a wider malaise. Never known it this bad before. But as I say, it could just be an overly sensitive pointer to something developing. Or maybe Boursorama (an off putting name if ever there was one) have been cutting back on the number of RSPs (MMs) that they go to. I'll drop 'em a line and see what happens.
Any decent one's left? I know we've covered iDealing ad Nauseam, Barclays seems to be nicely in the frame with Stan and Fred. Survive's recommendation?

As far as brokers go then Charles Stanley/Fastrade or TDW (although I'm aware that Stan ain't a fan of them) seem OK to me. TDW are presently doing a one month commission free period for new account holders.
