Iain

When you reformat always choose NTFS format unless you have good reason to do otherwise.

Iain - 08 Jul 2003 01:20 - 618 of 11003

Done that. The only problem now is no Sound.Windows cant find an audio device.
There is a yellow asterisk next to Multimedia audio Controller. Can i download this?

leo1 - 08 Jul 2003 08:04 - 619 of 11003

The software drivers for your sound will have been supplied with the sound card or, if the sound is built into the motherboard, with the motherboard. You'll need to load them/it. To download from elsewhere you'll need to know just what 'make' your sound card is. Or, if built in, the make and model of your motherboard.

I use http://www.cclcomputers.co.uk/ in West Yorkshire. Generally very reliable , helpful and fairly priced. I took a 2 year old 20 gig HD which had faulted back last week and they gave me a credit note which paid for a 60 gig.

On a small home network all the gear they sell should work however I tend to use their D-Link network gear unless the environment's very electrically noisy and then I might go for 3-Com - Each to their own though.

Snip - 11 Jul 2003 01:38 - 626 of 11003

all I did was move my pc system to a new desk. I had to disconnect a few things and I put everything back together but I cannot get anything at all on my monitor. I have checked all the connections and they`re good and the monitor works with my laptop. It`s a dell and the 4th light on the back is orange and i think it`s supposed to be green.
I did connect a usb mouse to the front a couple of days ago and it said in the manual which I read today that the usb mouse should be in the back.

I don`t suppose anyone has any suggestions before I ring dell

Iain how did you sort your keyboard problem it's been bugging me for ages?

robber - 11 Jul 2003 17:04 - 630 of 11003

DAV, depends slightly on what version of windows you are running but in effect your problem is that you are running your keyboard with the US character set. Go into control panel, and check under 'keyboard', 'region' or 'language'. Install the UK version and make sure you delete the US one, finally you will have to reboot.

Has anyone got Refreshie. That they could mail to me or know a web address.Lost it since i had to reformat.

Kayak - 11 Jul 2003 22:01 - 634 of 11003

For IE refresh try Yrefresher (bottom of page). It installs a toolbar in each IE window (which you can shrink to a button) so that you can refresh each window separately by pressing the button and specifying a time interval.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 12 Jul 2003 13:32 - 635 of 11003

Please, if you use autorefreshers on MoneyAM be reasonable with your chosen refresh period for any given page...
