THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

aneurin bevan and jimmy reid are more to the liking of fred

i can fully understand an admiration for the former, albeit that i would not agree with his views, but not much time for the latter

Haystack - 05 Aug 2015 12:40 - 61862 of 81564

Tanker
That was NOT what Corbyn said. I saw the quote and he replied to the question by saying, "if he has committed war crimes then he should be prosecuted". That is very different from what you posted. His reply was a general one and applies to anyone.

ExecLine - 05 Aug 2015 14:10 - 61863 of 81564

Not so, Haystack.

Amazingly, but true, I fear Tanker is perfectly correct on this one:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/labour/11784095/Tony-Blair-should-stand-trial-for-war-crimes-over-Iraq-invasion-Jeremy-Corbyn-says.html

Haystack - 05 Aug 2015 14:44 - 61864 of 81564

No. The Telegraph is spinnng the story. I saw the interview on BBC last night and viewed it again just now. You can see it in their web site.

Interviewer: Should he be tried for war crimes
Corbyn: If he has committed a war crime, yes. Everyone who has committed a war crime should be.

That is nothing like the Telegraph's article.

I, now realise where Exec and Manuel have obtained the political beliefs from!

uuuumh!

cynic - 05 Aug 2015 14:51 - 61866 of 81564

neither aneurin bevan nor jimmy reid that's for sure!

Fred1new - 05 Aug 2015 15:06 - 61867 of 81564

There is a difference between beliefs and understanding.

You seem to lack the ability to comprehend ot do the latter.

Mind you can always follow your past leaders.

I am surprised that Heath wasn't and old etonian!

Fred1new - 05 Aug 2015 15:06 - 61868 of 81564

.

cynic - 05 Aug 2015 15:15 - 61870 of 81564

i certainly wasn't, though would be very proud to have gone to that most excellent of schools .... no idea where ted heath went to school, and totally irrelevant of course

cynic - 05 Aug 2015 15:23 - 61871 of 81564

talking of education, the prog last night was very interesting ......
5 chinese teachers were seconded for a month to a high-performing comprehensive
the year was then split in two, with one half staying with the current system and the other being taught "chinese method"

the chinese method was strong on discipline - good - but was incredibly old-fashioned in the teaching method - teacher at the front preaches at the children and tells them what to memorise; questioning more than discouraged

this chinese system (12 hours a day in china) clearly produces great exam results, but totally stifles encouragement or the ability to think

however, another good side of the chinese system was the emphasis on physical exercise and sporting as well as classroom competition

Haystack - 05 Aug 2015 15:23 - 61872 of 81564

Heath went togrammar school ramsgate, father carpenter, mother a maid. Then Oxford via county scholarship, war, civil service, MP.

TANKER - 05 Aug 2015 15:24 - 61873 of 81564

cynic - 05 Aug 2015 15:25 - 61874 of 81564

TANKER - 05 Aug 2015 15:28 - 61875 of 81564

hay my view blair and yankee bot friend are war criminals and should be hung
they are guilty . had thousands killed for their lies weapons of mass destruction

Fred1new - 05 Aug 2015 15:29 - 61876 of 81564

It is interests me is how Cameron and Cameron can dish out cash to old boys in the city by selling the tax- payers’ property at a knock down price and hand out tax benefits to his paymasters and cronies, but not find money to tide over Kids Company.

The one thing that Cameron and his sycophantic neo-conservative followers have, is an abundance of Moral turpitude

cynic - 05 Aug 2015 15:34 - 61877 of 81564

excuse me, but Kids Company looks very suspect on examination

i must confess, it would be wonderful if just once in while you could get off that soapbox of yours ..... you are just so incredibly predictable, repetitive and boring

Fred1new - 05 Aug 2015 15:35 - 61878 of 81564

Manuel,

That is part of your problems.

What you absorb or introject in childhood comes on to haunt you and others laterl in life!

That is why you are what you are and others shouldn't be too hard on you!

cynic - 05 Aug 2015 15:36 - 61879 of 81564

so what made you into such a predictable, boring and repetitive drone then?

Fred1new - 05 Aug 2015 15:38 - 61880 of 81564

Dealing with the likes of you!
