THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

what evidence of discrimination?

assuredly not all immigrants work harder than their britsh(?) counterparts, but many among the polish and asian community are certainly prepared to work all hours

on another aspect, why do you think there are so many (middle and eastern) european gainfully employed in the building industry?
not (especially) because they are cheaper but more because there is a severely restricted homegrown pool of same ...... for more on that see 62121

Imigration to the UK is obviously a very big concern and we are in a grave situation of being very soon in a .crisis situation with not being able to cope with this massive influx of undisirables all scrambling for their piece of free Uk plc....

have something very valuable of Muhammad Ali's , and Tommy Hearns .

What is it ?

jimmy b - 29 Aug 2015 21:12 - 62134 of 81564

aldwickk ,
i have an application for a boxing license that Muhammad Ali applied for on 3 sheets of paper all filled in and signed .
I also have Tommy Hearns bandages that were cut off his hands after he knocked Juan Roldan out at the Hilton Hotel Las Vegas in October 1987 becoming the first fighter in history to win titles at 4 different weights in the days when that meant something (i was there).
I have a ton of other boxing memorabilia including many original on site posters from the 60's upwards ,some worth more than you might think .

Nasa is experimenting with locking people in isolation for a year with a longterm goal of sending a man mission to mars : a man mission to mars is a complete waste of time and cost !, it would be far better to develop robots capable of accomplishing the same things that a human would be able to do.
This would be far cheaper and the best overall solution for a major mission to mars.
At the present moment a man mission to mars would be similar to the Apollo space program which resulted in a full stop and no further suite : mankind has not yet the full capability to explore the outer ranges of space being present, but robots can do for us ; later when new and far better propulsion systems have been developed making these huge interstellar distances shorter in time : then humans can tiptoe around the solar system, but until then and also due to the great dangers that lie ahead : it is best for a mechanical made being to do the exploring for us.

Very interesting , I use to go to most of the big fights in London in the 60's. I had a boxing program signed by Howard Winstone after his fight with Terry Spinks , it was called the battle of the golden boys and the front page of the program was printed in gold.

Fred1new - 30 Aug 2015 12:46 - 62138 of 81564

We could send Captain Mauel and Corporal Haze to Mars instead of robots.

A chance for them to take one further step for the benefit of mankind.

Can I light the fuse!

Nice one aldwickk we would have plenty to chat about .
I have also seen many of the big fights of the 80's here and in the USA ,i lived in an apartment block at the Houston Boxing Association with several of the well known 80's fighters who trained there ,but that's a long story.

Probably the best fights I have ever seen, boxer versus the fighter, explosive

Aaron Pryor vs. Alexis Arguello

We need more Tridents!

jimmy b - 31 Aug 2015 09:53 - 62145 of 81564

Yes maxk both great fights and there was also the scandal of what was in the bottle in Pryor's corner.

As usual all Fred can do is post constant huge cartoons ,give it a rest Fred and have a chat about something else ,anything for Fuck's sake !!!
