It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Maybe we should start a 'Snooker thread"?

Last night I started watching the 'David Haye versus Tony Bellew' fight on Sky Box Office - but I had great trouble leaving the World Snooker Semi-Final match between Mark Williams and Barry Hawkins on BBC2 to do so.

This snooker match was so stressful and so close.

It got to 16:16, and with the winner just requiring to win one more game to go through to the Final with John Higgins, both players kept making easy misses and also making poor white ball positional shots too. They had so much difficulty in keeping focus because of the great stress involved and the consequences of their own poor play being so serious.

Higgins can certainly keep his act together at this level, whereas Williams and Hawkins (who have both won the competition before) couldn't, and so i conclude, Higgins should 'walk it'!

Anyway, coming back to the boxing.....

IMHO, I felt Hayes had 'conned everybody' concerning his fitness! His right leg failed him yet again, making it very difficult for him to keep his balance whilst throwing his punches. Bellew didn't have too much trouble and knocked him out in the 5th round.

Of course, both fighters made a packet of ££££££££££££ for their efforts. However, I don't think we will see David Hayes in the ring ever again.

Perhaps not just a 'Snooker' thread then, but maybe a 'General Sports' thread instead? Just occasionally, the 'roundy-roundy' stuff on F1 can get to be very exciting too!

Cheers iturama but bugger me those barriers seemed two foot higher today when we invaded the pitch than they did when we last did it 5 years ago.

Best laugh was my kids and their mates boyfriends sending them photos and videos of their parents celebrating on the pitch. Didn't have any of that crap 35 years ago when there was only 9000 on the pitch celebrating going up to old division two May Bank Holiday Monday !!!

Laughed at us and our owner just a few short years ago and were giving it big on the Swansea way and their fantastic chairman Huw Jenkins. Jenkins has since sold them down the river and our chairman was carried shoulder high onto the pitch on Sunday and apologised once again for his disastrous rebranding which included us playing in red.

Be lucky to get 10k watching them at the Mickey Mouse stadium next season in the Championship.

That looks just about the worst England squad I can ever remember. Nevertheless the ones I can remember have done feck all at major tournaments so they haven't got a lot to live up to so good luck.

Great pity about Mo Salah getting injured so early. Pleasing though, to hear he has merely strained his shoulder ligaments and that his injury was not a dislocation. Consequently, he should be OK to represent Egypt in the World Cup. Healing time for it is reported to be around a couple of weeks or so.

Great pity about Loris Karius losing his focus, first with the silly, silly throw straight at the feet of Karim Benzema and then secondly, with Bale's long shot from well outside of the penalty box that went straight at him and into his hands - and then immediately out of them into the back of the net! Grrr!

Perhaps he wouldn't have made the second error if he hadn't made the first one? It's possible the first mistake absolutely shattered his confidence and he just couldn't get over it.

A truly fantastic game and Gareth Bale's utterly brilliant overhead kick will just keep being played on football TV shows for an eternity.
