THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

No, but I would prefer them to think before giving knee jerk comments.

No problem with disagreements of opinion.

But I was taught as a little boy to differentiate between"need", "want" and "wish" and to consider consequences of "actions".

(Nothing wrong with "wishing" or "wanting".)

What a stupid post Fred (knee jerk comments) (No problem with disagreements of opinion)
You don't like anyone to disagree with you.
people have an opinion that they don't want hundreds of thousands more immigrants pouring in to Britain .
Your the minority on here.

Haystack - 11 Sep 2015 10:03 - 62677 of 81564

Germany yesterday said that it has not set any upper limit on the number of immigrants. That is just creating a situation where there will a huge increase in the numbers.

VICTIM - 11 Sep 2015 10:13 - 62678 of 81564

I' ve said before what message does this send out to the rest of EU and indeed it's own people . I could understand a slow build up in their plans to get age down , but this is strange , have they been building houses slyly and planning this because how can you just take in these amounts . ( AT NO POINT IN THIS MESSAGE ARE THERE ANY ACTUAL REEL FACTS OR HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE IT'S JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY THICK HEAD ).

VICTIM - 11 Sep 2015 10:15 - 62679 of 81564

For REEL read REAL .

MaxK - 11 Sep 2015 10:32 - 62680 of 81564

Germany is looking out for Germany...they'll cherry pick the best, and export the rest.

Those not selected, will be encouraged to seek fame and fortune (benefits) elsewhere.

VICTIM - 11 Sep 2015 10:35 - 62681 of 81564

Maxk I just thought the same myself .

Fred1new - 11 Sep 2015 11:04 - 62682 of 81564

Jb,

Minority, of "what"?

Neo-fascists, neo-cons., Tea-party, liberals?

Fred1new - 11 Sep 2015 11:06 - 62683 of 81564

Max.

Often wondered, why did you return from France?

will10 - 11 Sep 2015 11:16 - 62684 of 81564

Victim Those that fought and are still fighting to keep Britain free didn't do it in the sense you imply. Theirs was/is a stepping up when needed to do the right thing. By defending basic human freedoms they ensure Britain remains free. You disrespect them by implying they somehow had an isolationist view that Britain cared only for those on this island. Remember many others did some dying to keep Britain free too.

Germany has the same type of demographic time bomb as most countries. They have an ageing population with a lack of workers to pay for pensions. I watched CNN just now and a German economist who advises the government on policy. He suggested that these immigrants will go some way to solving their problems. Germany currently has a surplus of around 6bn Euros as a surplus from taxation. A large chunk of that money could be spent on the costs associated with taking the immigrants.

Compulsory euthanasia is the way to go. Especially if they started with the Canadians and the Welsh at 18.

jimmy b - 11 Sep 2015 12:55 - 62687 of 81564

Don't try and be smart Fred your in the minority of people who want to open the door to all and everyone who wants to enter the UK .
What about the Yemen they have real problems i feel sorry for them can they all come too?

will10 - 11 Sep 2015 13:40 - 62688 of 81564

Jimmyb At no point have I called for mass immigration. There is current nett migration into UK of 300k + many are students, many in jobs and a good few in the nhs. I was arguing for the uk to take a share of refugees, and stated that 100k a year would be no problem.
In to order to have a meaning full discussion when you say mass immigration put a number on it?

Fred1new - 11 Sep 2015 13:50 - 62689 of 81564

Guess which one is hiliary?

Dil - 11 Sep 2015 13:50 - 62690 of 81564

lol hils , some of us are ok honest :-)

will10 - 11 Sep 2015 14:14 - 62691 of 81564

Jimb/Hilary. You two remind me of two spoilt 8 year olds with your pockets full of candy. The teacher is trying to get you to give some to the little poor kid in the corner. With tears and snot running down your faces you're arguing that they're all your sweets and you will not give any up. You do know that when you get home your mum will give you a clip around the ear and make you do the right thing tomorrow. You're adults now, step up.

Haystack - 11 Sep 2015 14:22 - 62692 of 81564

If you build up a successful country then people from less prosperous countries will want to come and share the benefits. If you let them in, at what point do you set the limit? We already have too many immigrants now with insufficient housing and services so a sensible limit would seem to be lower that what it is now. On that basis we need an increase of zero.

A good candidate destination would be Canada. I have visited it many times when my parents lived there. Apart from a few clusters of population, it is mainly empty. It would be possible to absorb all the refugees, economic immigrants in the world. We could send the 2m refugees in Jordan, the 2m in Lebanon, all the refugees in Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Lybia and all the economic migrants from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Africa, Eastern Europe. There is plenty of room there for all of them.

It is said that standing close together, you could put the whole world population onto an area a bit bigger than the Isle of Wight. Canada could take all of the above groups and still be empty.

hilary - 11 Sep 2015 14:50 - 62693 of 81564

Dilbert,

You're right. My niece is dating a chap from Swansea. I'd probably make him exempt. :o)

hilary - 11 Sep 2015 14:55 - 62694 of 81564

will10,

And in that same class of 8 year olds, there was a spotty, fat kid with glasses that nobody liked. The rest of the class used to nick his sweets and dangle him upside down over the toilet till he cried.

Please tell me you weren't that kid...
