How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

crockam, a 'cash' index from a spreadbetter is not the cash index at all. It is cash in the sense that it settles at the end of the trading day rather than settling on a futures expiry date. It can't be the actual cash index since they would have no way of buying/selling the index in the market to lay off their position if necessary. In fact it is based on the closest future. You can use it to determine the direction the FTSE will follow, but not the absolute value.

kayak disagree with you ,now you can bet on a daily basis which is on a ftse daily bet using the ftse 100 index. fundy cricket looks a cert draw at this stage but 2 short at moment.

Glad I didn't trade it. Was tempted to back the draw at 1-1 but didn't.

Evening guys
After a very successful 36 hrs (for me), thought that Ipswich looked like they could always score even with 10 men, so rather rashly backed the draw at 3.50, only to watch cardiff take the lead a few minutes later. Faith was paid in full however and greened up at 1.22. Just in time lol :-)))

Too true harlosh, too true. Personally, I will always take the money and run, once the money is in the bank.

Morning Woodie and Fundy (Sounds like a double act!)
Got one eye on the cricket but no positions yet but tempted to lay the draw. Too many wickets have gone for my liking so far. Eng seem to turn a good position into a bad one at the flick of a switch!

Woodie,
Just picked this up from Sky Sports. Just be careful if laying the draw over next few days as it doesn't look like there'll be full days play. Also beware that Pakistan will be dragging their heels as are more than happy to play for a draw to win the series.
"248-6 - The players have gone off for bad light and as this was a very clear day it's hard to see how play will continue past 1130 GMT in any of the remaining four days. If Pakistan had been up to speed with the over rate, we would only have had an additional five overs. Join me at 0500 GMT tomorrow for day two"

Bak
read my pre-match assesment - i think youll find i covered that lol
Laid draw at 1.86, backed pakistan a couple of times in double figures so book looking quite good at the moment thoguh game not proceding as England would have hoped. The key for England is going to be to make good use of the new ball when they bowl and hopefully to get Inzy out cheaply
