SEO Retrofits Thermoformer and Sealer with GREENSEAL

http://www.moneyam.com/InvestorsRoom/ShowPostList?fID=1&tID=5042

paulmasterson1 - 21 Jun 2005 22:07 - 6336 of 27111

Hi All,

So, what does today's announcement mean for the share price ?

KBC Peel Hunt valuation ....

Our forecasts for SEO generating turnover this year of 5.0m are based only on tray-lidding machines (not thermoformers) being converted to using RF technology. As one of the UKs largest food retailers, the trials with ASDA represent a significant point in the adoption of RF technology by the food packaging market with both technology push acting via the machine manufacturers and market pull coming from the likes of ASDA and potentially Wal-Mart), the ultimate vendors of the newly-processed packaged products.

From an old MSI Report ....

MSI believe that the value of the UK packaging machinery market increased by 2 percent in 1998, with demand reaching 472.2 million (ECU670.5 million). The principal types of MAP machinery used are thermoform, fill & seal and pre-formed tray & lidding film. Thermoform, fill & seal machinery accounted for 48 percent of the MAP machinery market in 1998, whilst pre-formed tray & lidding film machinery accounted for 29 percent. Vertical form, fill & seal and flow packing machines accounted for the remainder of the market.

From last years Harman Report ....

Stanelcos technology is equally applicable to the thermoforming market. (Thermoforming produces thinner trays, such as those used for bacon or smoked salmon.) With 15,000 machines in the market and greater savings to be made on costs, this is potentially a market nearly double the size of the tray lidding market. Stanelco has already converted a Tiromat thermoformer for demonstration to prospective customers, and we expect the company to look for agreements similar to that reached with Reiser.

26 May 2004STANELCO, AQUASOL AND ADEPT POLYMERS THE WINNING COMBINATION SHAKES UP THE PACKAGING WORLD

Now all under the ownership of Stanelco plc, Stanelco, Aquasol and Adept Polymers have pooled exceptional resources and skills to develop a series of inventions that will change the packaging industry forever.

From the Adept Polymers team comes a brand new invention that is set to shake the world of packaging film.

Starpol is a brand new starch-based soluble film that preliminary tests show performs as well as cast or blown pvoh film at a considerably lower cost!

This new range of films is available in cold and hot water grades in thicknesses of 20120 microns and is readily weldable using heat sealing or Stanelcos patented radio frequency technology. Starpol thermoforms well with less shrink back than conventional pvoh films. Its properties make it suitable for many liquid, gel and powder products in existing markets, with cost reduction possibilities making it an essential ingredient to todays soluble film market. Starpol releases product faster than existing films in the market place and initial indications are that the film gives greater resistance to chlorine bearing products.

The environmental story is great too; with high levels of starch in Starpol, biodegradability will be significantly faster than straight pvoh film. With lower blocking resistance, the film has a nicer touch than conventional pvoh which can become tacky, particularly at high humidity levels. Printability is also good which opens even more usage opportunities. The film has excellent oxygen and perfume barrier properties and for the first time, Starpol film offers barrier packaging opportunities that, until now, have been cost prohibitive.

Aquasol is already looking at the technical opportunities offered by Starpol and will be able to offer this advice to customers. Starpol is about to shake up the world of film packaging and Stanelco, Aquasol and Adept Polymers are leading the way dont be left behind.

Stanelco plc develops new material format for use in tray manufacture and thermoform packaging

Pie de Ristance !!!!

Stanelco PLC

26 November 2004

Stanelco plc Stanelco plc develops new material format for use in tray manufacture and thermoform packaging

Stanelco plc ("Stanelco" or "the Company"), the RF (radio frequency) applications group, is pleased to announce the development of a new biodegradable starch/PVA film product for use with its RF technology in tray manufacture and thermoform packaging. This progresses a patent application announcement on 14 May 2004, which has resulted in the development of a new range, low cost starch/PVA biodegradable film material which using RF can be processed like conventional thermoplastics.

The Company has now used this patented technology to develop a process to produce this product in a sheet format for the manufacture of thin wall food trays for specific use with organic and other foods. It can also be used with thermo-formers for packaging products such as bacon, cooked meats, etc. The film material has excellent qualities including a superb gas barrier in mono format and can be sealed using Stanelco's RF technology process. In addition it is cost competitive with other types of biodegradable products currently in use in the market.

Initially this product will be targeted at organic ranges which represents approximately 6% of Supermarket produce sales but future developments will endeavour to make the product cost competitive with general packaging materials. Trials will commence in the New Year and, if successful, commercialization will commence in the current financial year.

Stanelco is in discussions with a number of end users and manufacturers regarding the testing of the technology with a view to the adoption of this process into their product lines. Further announcements will be made in due course.

Ian Balchin, CEO of Stanelco, commented: "At the time of the original application for the patent we were excited about the opportunities it might present. With further development of the process we have opened up a new product line and the interest from end users has been very encouraging. We look forward to further developing this exciting new area for Stanelco and its shareholders."

And today we get ....

"This is a major milestone in the development of this technology. There are significantly more thermoformers in the marketplace than there are tray lidding machines," said Morgan-Fisher. "This is a major advancement for the packaging of bacon, cooked meats and sliced cheeses, etc., and the successful retrofit of a thermoformer will rapidly advance the adoption of GREENSEAL Technology.

What's the betting that Stanelco are demonstrating Starpol 2000 on the Multivac Thermoformer :)

Cheers,

PM - you do yourself a disservice. I am interested in what you post, but not interested in being told how to read and think about it - all that bold and red is very wearing - just plain Courier 10 point is all we need to read the stuff, then we can assimilate it and make up our own minds where to put the emphasis. Anyone following SEO has seen enough of this stuff to be moderately well-informed without having it ramm(p)ed down our throats. Lighten up a bit, we're all on the same team.
Thanks
